Title: patch glue
Post by: walking the dog on September 24, 2016, 02:27:12 PM
Even though I'm careful to rotate where i place my patch I seem to be developing dry skin/slight rash perhaps eczema where the patches have been
I'm assuming this must be a common problem  and guessing its a case of moisturiser after removed patch ? Been using them since Feb and just developed it now 😐

Is the sticky part of the patch the problem? where it touches the skin.  Does it suggest anything on the leaflet in the packet?

Its the whole area where the patch has been in contact with my skin nice little raised red patch shape left !
Never crossed my mind to read patient information leaflet 😏 good thinking , my ear eczema is terrible at moment so perhaps I'm having a,sensitive stage

I reacted to Estradot patches, really sore itchy patches, ended up switching to estrogel.

Hi WTD

Strangley very occasionally my patches irritate me. Not all the time, but maybe once every 2 weeks I get a ring around the patch. Then it disappears and it doesn't happen again.

Keep an eye on it and maybe apply some Aveeno afterwards.

Hi walking the dog

I have a tendency to sensitive skin so I am always very very careful when I remove the patch - to peel it off very carefully and never rip it off quickly (like with a plaster!) as it can set off a reaction. Sometimes it also itches when it's on there - even from when I first started using them, but I was determined also to never scratch where the patch was stuck if I could avoid it, but only scratch nearby.  To remove the adhesive you apply some baby oil, leave it for a minute or two and then wipe gently ( no vigorous rubbing!) to remove it and the black marks too!

I use Estradot and as they are so small there is hardly any area to make contact with the skin - so much better in that respect if you have sensitive skin. Obvs if you have a combi patch there are no small patches tho'.

Hurdity x
