Title: New - Sandrena Gel/Utrogestan for peri-hormonal migraines
Post by: juwi on August 26, 2016, 08:35:18 AM
Hello,
I'm new here and although not in menopause (yet), I have been suffering from peri menopausal migraines.

I saw Dr Panay and I've now been prescribed 2mg Sandrena gel and 100mg Utrogestan (days 17-28) to help even out my hormone levels and hopefully address the migraines. I have a few questions:
- where's the best place to apply the gel? I was told the lower tummy area but I don't find there's enough surface area to cover two hands worth and alternate from left to right each day. Also - it take so long to dry!!
- 2mg Sandrena seems quite high to me. Or is this amount necessary to override the fluctuations in my own oestrogen levels?

Any advice welcome!!

Hi juwi - just wanted to welcome you to the forum. I've not used the gel HRT myself but I'm sure someone with knowledge of your regime will be along soon.

I use sandrena 1mg and utrogestin 7 days a month.

I am 50 and in Peri.

You have seen one of the top HRT specialists so go with what he says.

Give it time to work , HRT isn't necessarily and immediate fix. 😊
