Every now and again I go all light-headed, could this be the meno or low blood sugar. It tends to be in the early hours of the morning (3am - 6am) I eat in the evening approx 6.30pm then that's it until breakfast around 8am the next day.
I was thinking of trying those Dextrose tablets but I believe they contain sugar which is no good if you are prone to getting thrush. I don't eat cakes or biscuits and I don't have sugar in my tea. I don't have fizzy drinks either.

i'm not expert but I would have thought that you would be better with some slow releasing energy foods, like oatcakes, nuts, seeds or complex carbohydrates. If dextrose contains sugar, then it will raise your blood sugar levels, then you will follow it with a crash.

I used to get this mid morning. My gynaecologist, an expert on insulin resistance, told me that porridge was not the best breakfast, but that I should have an egg with toast. I have found this worked for me. I didn't experience a dip in the night though.

I have used Dextrose tablets for over 20 years and the product has never given me thrush. Slow release foods are useful, I use dried fruits and nuts, bananas, muesli as I can't tolerate eggs.
NAPS told me to eat every 3 hours, 24/7, 12/52. I have a packet of biscuits by the bed so that when I get out of bed I nibble B4 going back to sleep.

I do sometimes get it mid afternoon, and yes I sometimes am hungry when it happens.
It's like a wave that washes over me from head to toe, a dizzy weak feeling then is gone about 10 seconds later. I do have egg and toast every morning at breakfast.

I'm now thinking it's low blood sugar because if was hormonal surely there would be a regular pattern to it, date wise. I was checked for diabetes last month and I'm ok, don't have it. Will take some nuts and biscuits to bed and try what you have all kindly taken the time to write and tell me.

It's probably your body being hungry! I get a dip mid-morning (after 10.30) and again at 4.00 ish. I buy cereal bars as well as using dried fruits and nuts, ginger biscuits ………. always carry Dextrose tablets particularly when walking ……… keeping hydrated helps too.
4 me it starts with sudden nausea which is probably intense hunger; followed by weak thighs and anxiety attacks. Himself tells me 'you are hungry' but I can soon become unable to eat :-\

I always have cornflakes, rice krispies or a weetabix with semi skimmed milk about 9pm and I hardly ever get early morning surges now

It's a grey area for me, hence the need to carrying food stuffs with me. However, Kendal Mint Cake ain't one of those :-X

I remember my eldest son taking KMC and also soreen malt loaf rolled into balls when he went on his college outward bound camping treks :)

Yep, me too! I'm pretty much the same as CLKD with the timings of my 'dips' too. I carry packets of oatcakes with me everywhere! Hubby jokes that my bag is becoming like the Tardis these days.
If only the sonic screwdriver could fix the menopause....... ;)

I take oatcakes with me everywhere too!
Would not be without them, they come in little packs too!
The only problem is that sometimes I nibble them and leave the opened pack in my bag and find crumbs everywhere...
