Title: progesterone implants
Post by: robotwars on August 11, 2016, 08:31:30 PM
Hi! Can I ask a stupid question? I was thinking of looking into getting the mirena fitted, but then I noticed that the implant in the arm also gives of progesterone, what is the difference, can you do the implant with gel or patch?

I think the progesterone implant is for contraception like the POP/mini pill and will be a strong synthetic progestogen?? This isn't possible for HRT progestogens. There are also oestrogen implants - usually given to women who have had a hysterectomy I think. Not sure how widely used they are for normal HRT?
