Good luck! The old house cleaning will probably be the worst part  ;D.  Have you got to know people where you are going? Exciting times!

They'll keep if un-opened, don't bother reading the 'use by ' dates, it's preserved ;-).

Make up the beds when you get there, switch on the boiler and put kettle on!  Toilet rolls to hand.  Bubble bath and flop into bed ;-).

I know you have stuff there but maybe pack 1 case with clean sets of clothing, a box with easy to cook/eat foodstuffs and a torch and have in the car?

My fab neighbours moved last month. They, like us, had been in the house for 25 years and had amassed loads of stuff. They had a huge lorry - long distance move - and at the end they had one more thing for the guys to fit in. Two stood on the ramp pushing against it with all of their strength while the third managed to secure the ropes, hit the button and on the count of three as the tailgate was rising they all jumped off.  ;D

How far do you have to travel dazned?

Hi dazned,

I've just read this thread, how wonderfully exciting for you! Are you retiring or going off to start a new business? I think we'd need six removal vans we have so much stuff. I live with Steptoe, won't chuck anything out!!

I wish you every happiness in your new life, whatever it may be! x

Make sure that you have plenty of liquids, biscuits, Kleenex on board as you drive up!  Take as many breaks as possible.  Which way are you driving, I knew every lay-by on the A5  ;D.  We used to write out each road Number and town we needed to drive through when we first started out, long B4 sat-navs  ::) and I could never map read.  We drove up and down that A5 100s of times over the years.

At least it ain't snowing and is unlikely to be foggy  ;D

;D especially at this time of year.  Hopefully you'll get behind a caravan going on holiday so won't be able to dash anywhere very fast  ;)

Belatedly wishing you well in your move - I don't often read this board! Whereabouts in Wales? Sounds like fun but very hard work. Unemployed - that's brave! Are you looking for jobs or going self-employed ( or retired even?).

I would dread moving - I don't actually think it would be possible as we've lived here for over 30 years, have had several children and accumulated buildings, sheds, garage, extension, vehicles (husband's hobby!), as well as lots of their stuff, bits of furniture we no longer need, not to mention so much wood and building materials and lots of accumulated junk. Would be too stressful and time-consuming.

Well done for making the move and I presume you have a reason for choosing your new location like friends or family or favourite holiday destination?

Hurdity x :)
