Hi ladies
I want a breast ultrasound which shows a small cyst which the doctor said can be left alone Can anyone reassure me that I won't be forced off HRT? I forgot to ask the doctor anything about oestrogen HRT but I'm terrified of being forced off it.
Thanks

Don't worry I've had a couple of times & HRT wasn't even mentioned. They aspirated them & came back clear.

Breast cysts are completely harmless and never become cancerous - if they do, then they were never cysts in the first place. I have had breast cysts, they are very common and many women have them for years without knowing about it and some only come out in scans - they hardly ever came out on old style mammograms but the more modern equipment will highlight them. Quite often, they are very small and you can't feel them.
I always have a breast ultrasound scan immediately after a mammogram (the specialist does the scan with the mammogram in front of him) and I was talking to him about this and he said that in his entire career, he has never come across a woman with a harmless cyst that has developed into a malignancy. He told me that there are other types of breast lumps that are benign that can turn malignant but they are not breast cysts. Ultrasound scans will show up anything suspicious immediately and are more accurate and in depth than a mammogram. I have a breast scan every year and a mammogram every other year.
There is absolutely no need to stop HRT because of breast cysts so don't worry! You don't have to have them removed either.
It's very easy to get scared over all this stuff but believe me, millions of women have benign breast lumps that never turn into anything.

Phew! Now you can get on with facing tomorrow ;-). If it wasn't mentioned, I don't think that HRT will be a problem.

I used to get LOADS of cysts. Was told I should always get them checked out but I soon realised I would be at the hospital every month! Once when I went they counted 11, some the size of a walnut, and I´m not a big girl. I reckon without the cysts I would have been as flat as a pancake ;D Not once did any of them give cause for concern, they were just tender. Don´t worry.

Sorry for late reply @grumpyjane, I wasn't in the least bit worried about cancer when I had to return to get an ultrasound after my mammo. In fact, I had bad depression at the time, and the first thing I said after the scannerr said "Good news, its only a harmless cyst" waas "I'm gutted, I wanted an escape and breast cancer could have got me away from this mad world that it is turning into, I had a lot of problems, addiction, problems with flat, difficult family relations etc"
I'm sorry, I had to laugh when you said you would be as flat as a pancake without your cysts.
US women and what we have to put up with eh!
