Title: Oestrogel
Post by: Smokey on August 01, 2016, 12:58:09 PM
Hi ladies

Just got my first container of Oestrogel it is in a pump 80g and says it gives 64 doses each dose contains 0.75mg of estradiol. Would that be the same as. 75mg patch?

I just need to decide now whether to apply it at night or morning.

Any tips? Thanks

Thanks Clare663

I'm on or was on 50 everol sequil then conti then back to everol again as had continued spotting. Now I have the Mirena coil fitted and chose gel as easy to change dose if need be I'm not getting any flushes at the moment and I think that is due to the Ads I'm taking which mask some symptoms, not the flushes I don't think, but symptoms like aniexty and burning mouth etc.
I wanted to try a higher dose to see if these could be got rid of. I came off the Ads and was intending to increase my dose of oestrogel but I decided to go back on them as I had a few ms symptoms crop up mainly nerve pain and the Ad I'm on is used to treat this type of pain.
Only thing is if the gel states I pump is 0.75 how can I reduce to 50 ?
Have you got instructions on yours?

Hi, I was told by a menopause specialist that 1 pump is approx the same as a 25mcg patch, so you will need 2 pumps (average dose) for a 50 and so on.
Hope that helps xx

Thanks but I'm confused, why does it say on box it contains 0.75 in each dose eg :1 pump
I've got to apply now so I'm just going to do 1 pump, I don't want to overdose, I'll have to check with doc or pharmacy tomorrow .

Yes I agree it is confusing, I got a feeling its more to do with the 0.06% - I know my husband worked it out at one point.
I just looked back at an email reply on got from Dr Heather Currie a while ago, in which she was suggesting I use '3 to 4 pumps or a 75 or 100 strength patch' So her thinking is the same.

Thanks Stellajane and Saffy123

It looks like I will need to request more Gel as its not very big if I was to do two pumps it would only last me just over a month!
