I use estriol cream externally alongside Vagifem internally for vaginal atrophy and bladder irritation. I used to have the Gynest cream and then the generic estriol cream by the same manufacturer.
Recently I was given Ovestin in place and I thought nothing of it because it is still estriol cream. Ye gods it burned!!!!! :o
I looked at the ingredients and it contains chlorhexidine dihydrochloride among a lot of other unpronouncable things ending in 'acid'. I will not be using it again >:(

I don't have any problems ::) ……….
-
Babyjane - it burned me up as well :(
-
I use Ovestin and Vagifem and have no problems with either.
Yet I have so many reactions to liquid soaps, gels , shampoo, face creams and always thought I had extremely sensitive skin.
-
I also can't use any products with SLS in - shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste, it all causes a reaction because it is too harsh.
Chlorhexidine is used in mouthwash, I don't want that on my :whist:

I have tried so many times with ovestin, can now tolerate a very small amount (not enough to be useful unfortunately). I really thought I was the only one who found that it burns a lot (others on this site seem to rate it).
I now avoid using the applicator and just apply a pea sized amount with finger. Am going to try the Estring and praying that helps xx

I am going back to the generic estriol cream - used to be Gynest. Much less added ingredients and no mouthwash ::)

Difficult to gargle down there :D :-X

Hi babyjane, which estriol cream do you use? what manufacturer? might try some of that, no 'burn' cream sounds heaven ;) xx

Hi Saffy, it is the Marlborough manufacturer, same as the Gynest. In fact it is identical in all ways, it has just lost its brand name. Its cheaper so you should have no trouble asking to try it. It is a very large tube (80g) and it lasts for ever
-
Thank you babyjane!
I have an appointment on Wednesday, so will try and get hold of that, yes very good size tube xx

I'm the same! React even to some of the natural 'allergen free soaps' but can use both these products. Very odd.

'natural' ain't always ;)
