Well I have just ripped my evorel conti patch off! I've put up with constipation for 4 weeks, headaches, mood swings, last week with continuous nausea, and we 6, the tears and anxiety is back! I feel like I'm damned if I continue with it and damned if I don't. Yes it stopped my hot flushes and night sweats but now I feel that if the world ended today I couldn't care less! In fact I would be grateful! I think I've had 2 really good days on it (about 4 was ago) but now seem to get a new side effect every couple of days! What do I do!! I feel so down that it hasn't worked. I'm 49 and 5 yes post and was on this patch 7 weeks!! !

That's such a shame to hear how awful you've been feeling.
Have thought a bout trying a sequential hrt,I know you might not want to go back to having a bleed but that way you wont have to have the progesterone every day which seems to be the cause of many of problems associated with hrt.
-
don't give up, please, but do talk to your doctor. I can't advise on HRT as it never suited me. I use a low dose anti depressant and a beta blocker but that works for me. I still get hot flushes but I don't mind as that is all I get now and they are not too bad. I much prefer the flushes to the anxiety and low, volatile moods. However I am ten years older than you and almost through the meno now. You need a treatment regime that is going to help you. I have read many threads by ladies who swear by Oestrogel and something called Utrogestan. If you do a search you should be able to find them.

clare663 - What other HRT regimes have you tried? It is trial and error and I'm afraid the conti HRTs can be more problematic due to using progesterone all the time. Have you considered a Mirena? DG x

Or it could be the particular progesterone used in the recipe. I felt awful on one conti combo (Elleste duet) and great on another (Femoston).

:tulips: I know how you feel, as I have tried soo many combinations and feel rubbish today.... will be thinking of you..... Hugs..

I have Estradot patch for the oestrogen and a mirena for the progesterone.
I tried utrogestan but couldn't tolerate the side effects but apart from some spotting, hoping that settles, the Mirena suits me better.

hi everyone and thankyou for your replies. i tried two other types 4-5 years ago . the first one made me go mad in a week so tried a combi in tablet form for 6 months but suffered heavy bleeding, bad craps and was a wreck by the end of it so i went cold turkey for 2-3 years. the anxiety and low moods came back as did the night sweats (the hot flushes have always been around) so i thought i would give it another go. i know alot of you will think 6 weeks isnt very long but as the side effects were so severe this week i was scared that i would just get worse and worse (having done that before).my plan is to go back to the doctors but after my daughters wedding and my weeks holiday at the end of june as i do not want to risk feeling that way again at those times. i am eternally grateful for your support and suggestions. even tho i am 5 years post i do not mind having a bleed if it will lessen the side effects i get.xx

Some ADs can help anxiety. It really is Trial and Error :(

I think you're doing the right thing. It's too bad that we can't stop the world for a few weeks while we get back on track so we don't miss anything. You've been through it before with the other hrt you've tried, so 4 weeks is probably enough time for you to see if you're getting absolutely no improvement, and I wouldn't want tokeep experimenting with a major event coming up. Good luck with the wedding festivities and let us know how you proceed in July!

Tinker Bell what were the side effects you experienced with utrogestan? I'm a bit worried about the Marina but only because if I get side effects I have to wait before I can get it taken out!
-
I hope you enjoy your daughter's wedding. Ours 2 years ago actually kick started my anxiety as I was running on adrenaline for about 4 months but that's under control now and it was a beautiful day.
-
My side effects I experienced with utrogestan were:
Vivid nightmares and dreams that woke me up constantly
Feeling so hot and sweaty at night almost like having a temperature.
Bloated spaced out feeling
Needing the toilet several times at night.
After 8 nights of lack of sleep I abandoned it as I did not feel safe to drive etc.
I was taking 100mg vaginally.
I had Mirena seven weeks ago, the only side effect is very slight spotting. So hope it settles as I prefer the Mirena.
-
Hi Tinkerbell, oh that doesnt sound too promising, that was going to be my next route! Maybe not then!! Its so difficult to try and decide which one is next for me to try!
-
Don't be put off it, everyone is different. I would say try and see, there are others on here who get on well with it.
But for me the lack of sleep was awful and as I have a 50 min car drive in the morning I felt it was unsafe to continue. Maybe it might have become more tolerable but working and with school age children to look after it wasn't an option.
Lots of people complain about the Mirena but it suits me better....we are all so different.
