Title: Gynae thinks im crazy!! Help
Post by: cheezel on May 31, 2016, 08:00:43 AM
Hi all,
So i emailed my gynae re being on continuous progesterone and 400mg pessaries as i feel its too much for me. Asked her a few questions re where to go nxt ie tablet or change dosage etc etc....she replied saying im to stay on the hrt and that she thinks ive a baseline anxiety disorder and need to talk to my gp re same??? None of my questions were answered...again. What do you guys think? Time to change gynae? I think im too much hassle for her and she doesnt seem to like me questioning her at all!!

She sounds as useless as the many doctors I've seen. My gynae wanted to open up my cesarean scar because he wouldn't have it that my bladder problems were hormone related. Defo find yourself someone who will listen and actually cares xx

Good luck with your appointment, so hoping things will settle down for you. I have also got an appointment Friday, BCP has sent my bladder loopy and how am I suppose to deal with a 7 day break  >:( Oh how I wish there was a simple solution. I found that Estrogel helped me, but only ever reduced for my own progesterone to produce a period, not ideal, so I have to try and find a progesterone that is bladder friendly ???
Here's hoping we find some answers xx

Let us know how you get on cheezel. As for the anxiety disorder - have you suffered in this way throughout your life? Otherwise it is due to the hormonal upheaval of menopause. I definitely would not want to be taking 400 mg Cyclogest all the time. As I said in previous post on another thread - that was the dose for cyclical HRT (and for a medium dose oestrogen - in my case a 50 mcg patch) not continuous, so would be probably half the dose for a monthly cycle. The pessaries came in 200 mg doses too back then - not sure if they still do?

Grrrrrr!  How patronising of your gynae.  I'd change if possible.  As Hurdity says, if anxiety has only started with menopause then it is hormonal - amazing how many medical people won't accept that.

Well girls,
Unfortunately im sliding down a slippery slope....cant eat cant get out of bed no energy...feel like my life is over...ive never had any issues before...ive suffered with anxiety as in socially...i cant do presentations as i get inordinately nervous etc...i started femoston 2/10 two days ago so hoping this helps as i told my gp Prof John Studd says if you never had depression or anxiety its purely hormonal and you need increased oestrogen. I dont know girls...v v v down

Hang in there, cheezel!  It will take a while for anything new to take effect, but hopefully the femoston will help.  Sending you huge hugs x      Hope you feel better soon

Cheezel, poor thing! Surely Femoston will help! It is a great preparation with a very kind progestogen, just you have to be patient - give at at least one full cycle to work, three to four months at best! I have been on Femoston 2/10 for 2 years now and started like you - couldn't get up or go out or do anything. I was back to normal within 4 months. I am 45 now, was 43 at the time, and peri really caught me by surprise , to say the least ....
Good luck!

I know exactly how you are feeling, the anxiety is awful....but please keep reminding yourself this awful feeling is due only to decreasing hormone levels, you are still the same you. My anxiety has got so much better since starting Hrt... and believe me you I started from a very low place...I didn't recognise myself and I was at the point where I didn't want or feel I could go on....
Hrt does take time to work, so bear with it. I'm currently working my way up to a higher dose as I still have very bad bladder problems, I have always been reluctant to do so, but I'm now of the opinion 'give my body what it needs' and I feel being younger (42) I need a bigger dose. Sending you big hugs and know that you are not alone xx

Yes the peace and quiet here is unreal....strangely i miss my kids and my hubbie awfully and im only gone 3 hrs!!!.....having extreme nausea on these tablets...please god it settles....it lifted there and i stuffed my face...have lost nearly 2 st since this started in feb.....so need to eat when i can...apart from the nausea one positive is i dont feel as anxious or down on this higher dose of oestrogen so maybe my body needed it...if nausea doesnt settle i might try higher dose patch as i was symptomwise in that but still felt v anxious depressed and was up and down.....god its v hard isnt it? Milamam did you have nausea starting on this or any side effects?

The nausea will settle. I had nausea in the beginning, a lot like pregnancy. Try taking the tablet after meals or with some food.
Alternatively, try taking at bedtime . I hope it will pass soon and you will see the benefits. How isyour sleep?

My sleep is fine...i sleep full nights most nights thank god cos i couldnt cope with no sleep on top of the feeling mega anxious and like crap too....please god this one works...hoping my body can tolerate the jump from evorel 50mcgs to 2mgs in this!! Milamam you are giving me hope!!

Its not such a big jump - don't worry. Both are considered meduim dose HRT. Evorel 50 I believe is somewhere around 1.5 mg while the estrogen in Femoston is 2 mg/day. The difference is the progesterone which you may in fact like better ;)

On day 5 femoston 2/10mgs and the nausea is so horrendous i cant fxn. Anyone else had this at the start??? Or am i severely intolerant to yet another hrt? Thinking of just stopping all hrt now!!!  Had enough and feel like giving up existing!!

Cheezel, I am so sorry to hear you are still suffering. Have you tried to take the pill at night before bed as eventually the side effects will wear off during the night? I do remember having severe nausea at the beginning. Ginger saved my life. It does wear off.

Day 5 is too early but if cannot tolerate it, maybe speak to you GP to change to a patch or gel? Cross fingers everything will settle soon!

Well girls definitely not tolerating Femoston...just realised im allergic/sensitive to the E numbers on the tablet hence the horrendous nausea headaches and face pain. I went to see a top psychiatrist who said im basically burnt out and my body has given up the ghost. Said unfortunately ive v high stress levels which is why im at this juncture in my life. Im totally clueless what to now from a hrt point of view as i think my autoimmune issues and senstivities must have ramped up with all this imbalance. Wish id never chosen my career now as i would never have gotten into this state on a 9 to 5.....feel so low and just want to never wake up!!! No one knows what to do to help me in this country. Thinking of going to Marion Gluck at this stage to see if i can get compounded hrt without the fillers i seem to be sensitive to

It is what it is.  What suggestion/s did the Psychiatrist make?  Did you explain how awful you have felt?  Maybe an anti-anxiety medication i.e. Valium for 5-10 days to see if it eases symptoms?

Who prescribed your HRT, sorry can't remember  :-\.  Can't remember where you live either  :-\ - brain not working again.  Do you see your General Practitioner soon?

Hello cheezel.

So sorry to learn that you are still suffering.

I'm not one of the expert ladies but I have a male friend who was in a similar position to you. He had been under a lot of stress and was told by his GP that he had been experiencing ' too much for too long'. He was prescribed medication, took some time off work and made a full recovery. Your psychiatrist should be able to prescribe something while you rest and recuperate.

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful but I do wish you well and hope you get the help you are looking for.

Take care.

K.

I never read what's in the medication I take  ::)

I always do, I like to know what is going in my body.  I am sensitive to a lot of meds, fillers and additives too.

Wishing you well cheezel, I was in your position when I was diagnose with ME/CFS.  The consultant told me it was my body's 'breakdown of choice'.  I lost a job I loved and was good at but just couldn't maintain the pace day after day.
