I have posted before about my mirena coil. It is due for change in August.
I have been feeling awful now for weeks, anxiety,so depressed, tired, lethargic, bloating and I've gained weight around my middle, sugar cravings, low blood sugar shakes ( I do snack frequently) headaches, foggy head,no sense of well being at all, breast pain I could go on........
I have an appointment booked for 24th May. Despite calling in and asking if I can be seen sooner I'm told no I will have to wait until then. Apparently the male GP I'm seeing deals with the menopause.
Don't know if I can go on feeling this way. Every time I try and get an earlier appointment and I'm rejected I just feel worse.
I'm so fed up with the doctors surgery and my appointment seems a long way off.
Sorry, just had to rant and get it all out. DH has been good but I'm sitting here all alone with no one to rant too ;D
I'm due to go out this afternoon. I have an appointment with my chiropractor but I feel it's an effort just to get there.
Thank you ladies for being there. I feel a little better just for putting it all down.
This journey is a horrible one >:(

hi dyan,,you sound just like me im going through all those symptoms been like it for a long time i have problems with my doctor they just dont seem bothered every time i go i feel like im intouding or something .iv got appointment with the psychiatrist on the 3rd of june the last time i saw him was begining of february which is a long time to wait ..think thats why doctors dont do much for me while im under the psychiatrist they leave it all to him.i have the same problem now with going out its too much effort to do what i have to do but i do get there with a bit of effert ..it is a terrible journey this menopause such a natural thing can knock you off your feet and keep you there for a long time if it is not treated with the right medication im still searching for the right one for me. its good to know you have a doctor that deals with the menopause ..hope its helped you knowing you are not on your own x daisie

Feeling your pain here too...on day 3 of cycle with headaches, pains, foggy brain, adrenaline, or depression.....lets hope this peters out soon...hugs to you xxx
-
A return  from me Dyan. Keep going, that's all we can do. Can you think of changing surgeries at all? X
-
Sorry you feel so bad. Can you not ring and say it's an emergency? My surgery offer telephone consultations and then you can be seen the same day if doctor deems it necessary - otherwise like you surgery it's weeks and weeks of waiting. What annoys me is that if you do go for an appointment the place is empty as they are all on phone or off. I can see sense in having a couple of GPs on duty a day for calls etc, but they do need to free up more routine slots. You need to be seen at your worst not at the end of the month when you might be feeling ok again.

I had awful side affect from the marina coil yet my friend was fine, it was good for my heavy periods but stopped working after a while I had to have a hysterectomy in the end best thing I did hope you sort things out soon.
-
Thank you all for your replies.
I'll see how I go over the weekend and if I still feel this bad on Monday I will ring the surgery.
Don't hold much hope though ::)
-
It sounds very much like depression and as your seeing a psychiatrist I assume you are depressed ? Could you make an appointment to see a different gp sooner and discuss your depression ? Do you have an NHS walk in centre nearby where you coil go and they may be able to help you ? I went to one with conjunctivitis a,few years, ago burst into tears due to depression and they got me,an emergency appointment at my own gps, surgery .its just an idea
-
Walking the dog- sorry,I'm a bit confused with your reply. Was it meant for me or daisie? :-\
-
Daisie has gone :sigh:
-
Not another one :sigh:
-
:bighug: Dyan
Its so miserable isnt feeling like that. >:(
Can you ask at your gp if you can just turn up and wait ,explain that you just cant wait until 24 th !
-
Sorry dyan it was meant for you but I fuddled your post up with daisies in my meno brain !apologies

I know how you feel, as I have said before I am post memo and have been on hrt for 5 years but I seem to be getting the weird head, shakes and feeling of something going to happen to me health wise more frequent. Started out on our holiday today driving to Southampton and have had funny head and stiff neck all day. Arrived at hotel and I am feeling horrid. Holiday starts tomorrow and all I want to do is go home, worried about being in a different country and Ill, I hate this time of my life, I just want to feel normal again.
-
Hi Dyan
I have lots of the same issues, especially struggling with anxiety and have had to wait for 2 and a half weeks to see the doctor. It seems like ages ago that I booked the appointment but finally will see doctor this Monday. I've coped over the past couple of weeks just by taking it a day at a time, and dealing with my symptoms each day rather than thinking too far ahead, as that just made me feel worse. I'm hoping I'll be able to have hrt, and Monday can't come soon enough. :)
Hang in there, and know you're not alone xx
-
Thank you all.
Walking the dog- ;D no worries. I was just a little confused.
Dazned- thank you for the hug. Don't feel I can do what you suggest,as I feel sometimes, the receptionists think I'm some sort of mad woman. I had an incident once when my daughter was sent home from school ill and they wouldn't see her. I was happy to wait then but they would not let me.First the practice manager came out to see me and then I was ushered into a room upstairs to this guy who I felt was just making me feel like I was a nuisance.
jgr-yes me too, to feel normal again :sigh:
Cherrycrumble- you're probably right. The trouble with me is I want to feel better now ( don't we all)
-
'Now' Dyan - I want to feel better yesterday ::)
-
Well, managed to get an appointment this morning with the menopause doctor. Gave him my list of symptoms.
Tested my urine and there was blood in it so I have an infection. He is sending it away to be analysed and I'm on Amoxicillin.
My blood pressure was 145/85. Never been this high. He wasn't overly worried because the bottom reading wasn't that high.
I am to have blood tests on Friday for thyroid, cholesterol, vitamin D and 3 other things I can't remember ::)
He said I was showing symptoms of mirena running out so he will change it and keep me on the sandrena- phew! He said he has seen lots of ladies who have come in and said they have not been feeling right when their mirena's have got low.
He wants to treat the infection and do the blood tests first and then sort out the mirena.
He was super! Spent a long time with him. Didn't feel rushed or that I was wasting his time.
I feel relieved that I have spoken to him and I told him that.
First time I've seen this doctor for myself.Been with my daughter and he was v.good with her.
I must admit I was worried on what he would say about the hrt but he was fine and all for it.
Just thought I'd let you all know. X :)
-
Does blood in the urine always mean an infection though …….. :-\ Hopefully the Lab. tests will show nowt ;)
Do you feel better having spoken with him?
-
Just sent you a PM CLKD ;D
-
Got it :thank you: ;D
-
You're welcome ;D
-
Up 2 date now? 8)
-
:great:
-
Off to have a shower then await our visitor ::)
-
Good luck ( if luck is needed)
-
It was and I've been OK ::) : :thank you:
Back to we 2 now so can relax.
-
Any improvement?
-
Not really. Getting more cramping pains today and weeing loads.
Mood is still low and I just feel awful. To be honest I think the mirena has a lot to answer for. The sooner I get a new one the better.
-
If I get a uti I feel absolutely wretched ! Apparently it can effect some people this way :-\ hope the abs kick in soon and you start to pick up :)
-
:thankyou: dazned
-
:bighug:
-
:thankyou:CLKD
-
1 enough?
When do you see your GP again?
-
Once urine & blood tests are back. Blood test on Friday.
-
Did you give blood today?
Any improvement?
-
Yes. 4 tubes ;D and got the result of my urine test, which was negative,no further action required.
I finish the AB on Monday.
-
4 tubes!! It will be on eBay now, lol.
Hope you feel better soon.
-
Mirena exchange date arranged? Was there ever an infection :-\
-
No date arranged as yet and I know what you mean about the infection :-\
Finish AB Monday and if I still feel like I do today I will be back,
Cramps in lower region, achy thighs & breast pain still.
I do have another app 24th,but like I said,if I'm not right once AB are finished,I will be ringing the surgery again.
-
Phoned surgery again this morning. My stomach looks like I am 6 mths preggers and I'm getting stabbing pains down there. I have an appointment at 2pm this afternoon. Just want to get this sorted.
-
Good luck this afternoon dyan hope you can find out what's going on and get some help.xx
-
Let us know how you get on :foryou:
-
Will do - thank you dazned & WTD.
-
Update on return from Drs, here goes:
Blood tests were back and my under active thyroid was low so on 25mg levothyroxine daily.
Cholesterol was 7 should be 5 but he's not concerned so I'll look at my diet to try and reduce it.
He thinks I might have thrush down below that is causing the bloating so I have canesten pessary & cream and an anti fungal called fluconazole orally. He did another urine test and it had lipids :-\ :-*? In.
He is sending me for a scan to see why I'm getting the pains so have to wait a couple of wks for that.
Phew!! I think that's it :-\
-
Hope you feel bit better after seeing Dr dyan it sounds like he is being thorough which will help put your mind at rest I hope
-
Yes, he seems very good.
My own GP doesn't deal in menopause or mental health like this one and I can never get to see him anyway so I'll stick with the new one me thinks ;) nice bedside manner
How have you been today WTD? X
-
No mention of changing the Mirena then?
-
Yes if you find a good Dr stick with them. Lets hope things are looking up for you
-
CLKD- yes he did mention mirena but he wants a scan done first.
WTD- fingers crossed hey!
-
Improvement?
-
I'm now confused ;D - is the breast pain due to the reduction of the current mirena or have you been re-fitted :-\ anyway, glad that you are feeling better!
:tulips:
-
To the reduction of the current mirena according to my GP.
He wants me to have a scan before I have a new one.
Thank you :)
