Hi! I'm not sure if I should be concerned or not, but you know how your mind makes you feel ill/ think of all sorts of things!, I have had a cough, especially at night for months now, I also have pains in top of my stomach, which the doctor sat one side of the desk, I sat the other and told me its all due to acid, even the cough!! and to take galvescon, I have been taking it now for 3/4 weeks and not sure if its doing any good or not! then my friends husband died, he woke in the night with what he thought was indigestion, had a heart attack and died, this has caused my anxiety to kick in even worse...... my chest just feels uncomfortable, the back of my shoulders ache and my tennis elbow is playing up due to pushing my mothers wheelchair!
I'm on femseven sequi and things were going well, now when my period comes im in agony, cant even stand up straight, using hot water bottle and pain killers, I feel sorry for my husband as im always saying I don't feel well....... oh I wish I could just feel great and not have all of this........ does anyone else feel like this and how do we overcome it?

I know how you feel as I have health anxiety. In fact, reading your post when you wrote about your friends husband my eyes popped out of my head and I felt my heart rate increase!! I'm terrible in that I can read symptoms and start to experience them. Health anxiety is horrible and I have not yet found a cure.
I suffer from catarrh and cough a lot when laying down at night as the catarrh is going down the back of my throat. I have read that indegestion makes you cough at night. On Good Friday I had fish and chips that gave me terrible pains and trapped wind. That's the first time I had noticed pain at the top of my stomach. When I pressed on the area it hurt, yet when I broke wind it stopped hurting. I had the pains on and off for a few days but it's better now, so probably was a form of indigestion and that's what others said on this forum. I don't like gaviscon, I just take Rennie (orange) tablets and they seem to work for me.
I think the fact you've had these pains for 3/4 weeks (or more?) is an indication that it's not your heart and you're not going to have a sudden heart attack like your friends husband. I get a lot of aching in my upper back and my shoulders. I went to the Dr about it and he hardly examined me but just told me it was arthritis. I do have terrible posture and am always aching in my upper back, neck and shoulders and down my arms. I also have unlnar nerve entrapment in my elbows but I do tend to lean on my elbows a lot.
Your period pain sounds awful. I have noticed in peri menopause that my periods are much more painful than they ever were in fact I never really suffered much from period pain so it's a bit of a shock now when I get it. My husband gets sick of me feeling ill or thinking I have some disease or other. Just wanted to let you know you are not suffering alone.

Change of HRT if your period pains are that bad, we are well past having to 'put up with' that type of PAIN! I remember it well from the 1970s :'(.
When laid down the mucus runs into the throat which can cause a reflex cough. How is your pillow, simple changes can help the various aches and pains.
If the Gaviscon isn't working, try something more simple i.e. Rennies ;-)

hello robotwars, , I really can relate to your post I am exactly the same I could of written everything you said.
I have pains on top of my tummy too causes heart palps and stabbing chest pain, nothing major but enough to set of the adrenalin and panic, a good burp usually helps or windease tablets, I also pop a beta blocker if things get out of hand and It usually calms me a bit.
I am on everel Sequi and was doing good, but the further on in meno I get it seems the progesterone part is getting harder to cope with? have you noticed that too?
I have had several people I know die recently and I feel this brings things to our attention being that we are not immortal and we will die as well... the thing is we never know when it will happen..that causes great anxiety for me.
I have had some success on retraining how I breathe , I relax my shoulders and chest and jaw, I then breathe through my nose slowly and it seems to relax me and soothe my chest.
I hope you feel better soon xx I really do understand how you feel and how confusing it is as to whether to take symptoms seriously or not xx

Hi Sparkle, I have never heard of an Acid reflux pillow! lol - need to look that one up! LOl

Thanks sparkle :)

Robotwars, I used to get a wheezy cough from acid reflux and although Gavisvon helped, it didn't knock it on the head.
I had to get a prescription for Omrprazole which is a proton pump inhibitor. This type of medication actually inhibits acid production in the gut whereas Gavisvon merely puts a layer over the acid .
You might find it helpful to take it for a few months.

Good combination sparkle!
The ppi's help the gut and oesophagus linings heal too.

I was on them for three years and I decided to wean myself off them last summer. It took some time as I got rebound acid but I persevered and just took Gaviscon or Tums.
From time to time though I do take them short term, say a week before going on holiday and for the duration I'm away. I find that stops me getting a burning throat form a few gin cocktails 😄
