I've recently started to use Vagifem once again, but this time alongside systemic hrt. I have a dry mouth and am feeling quite thirsty most of the time, does anyone else find this?
I know I've used it before, about two years back, but my sieve brain can't remember if I had this side effect then. ::)

As oestrogen levels drop off the muscles become lax and the body starts to dry up. I had raging thirst prior to each bleed and have dry eyes, itchy dry ears, dry mouth …….. plus atrophy! probably comes with the territory ;)

its a known fact that mucus membranes dry out in menopause but i don't think its a side effect of hrt ......
Keep in mind that it might be a symptom of something else - not everything can be blamed on menopause ;)

That's very true pollie, I've just had so many problems over the past four years it's hard to tell which are meno related and which aren't.
I have been on systemic hrt for over a year now and done great on it , but lately I've felt it's not quite doing the job anymore. Maybe the thirst is due to dropping estrogen levels. I'll see how it goes over the next week or two .

Thirst (and passing large quantities of urine) is also a sign of diabetes so maybe get your blood tested if this increased thirst is a new and ongoing symptom?

Thanks Hurdity, I had my urine tested recently ,but my bloods were only done for liver function. I may go get a fbc done.

R U drinking enough?

Yes I'm drinking my usual amount so it's not due to lack of liquids. Ive re read the side effects of Vagifem and noticed increased thirst is on there, I hadn't noticed it before. Why would it cause that though? Very strange.

Maybe send an e-mail to the Manufacturer and ask?

I could do, the problem with me right now is I have several symptoms that could be either Fibro, meno or adrenal gland related. I think I'm going to supplement with magnesium awhile and see if that helps with anything. I have read somewhere that magnesium deficiency can be caused by hrt. Worth a try I suppose and the more I think about it, the less I think it's the Vagifem.
