Hi
Been ill this week with bad back and had to take a few pills and potions, it feels like it's affected the strength of my oestrogel can it do this? Some of the pills have been anti inflammatories? I know the BCP can be affected by anti biotics so just wondered.

Hi Kate,
I have not heard of any adverse reactions of estradiol with anti-inflamatories but I very recently read somewhere that estrogen is such a hormone that women need more of during times of illness/cold/general sterss. The article was about how difficult it is to find the right balance of HRT in women undergoing menopause. So it will make sense to me if you have been ill, you might have felt that you need a bit more estrogen. Just a thought to consider.
I hope you feel better!

Hello Kate50.
Sorry you've been unwell. I understand that drug companies avoid testing their products on pre menopausal women because fluctuating hormones can influence the results. This explains why it's men and post menopausal women used in clinical trials. All of which would indicate that changing hormones can cause havoc with our bodily functions, but hey, we know that already don't we lol.
Take care.
