Does anyone find that there hot flushes makes their Atrophy worse? Thought the hot flushes had subsided some what, but today they are back and the Atrophy is more stingy and burny. Had a better week so was hoping for a better day today, not the case. Still using the Vagifem, but it takes a long time to work. If I had carried on with the Vagifem and not stopped it I guess I wouldn't be in this state. Sorry to be posting again.

How much Vagifem are you using, how often? I find that laying down helps absorption. Atrophy is due to the body drying out …….
Thank fully I haven't had flushes.

When I was prescribed Gynest (Estriol) cream the recommendation was to use at night. I presume the same applies to Vagifem, it just takes time to work. Sadly, it won't help with hot flushes..........

Both are hormone upheavals so one may occur with the other?

Thanks for the replies. I have just done a two week reload of vagifem on the advise of my doctor. Can now use 3 a week. I know last time it took 6 months to really work and am in my third month. Trying to be patient but I know I am not. Think I need to give it more time. Thanks again for all your support.

If 3 a week isn't enough then up the amount. It's about being comfortable!

Up it to 5 a week, my meno doctor was happy for me to do that as it is equivalent to the old dose.

Thanks for the replies. Is ovestin cream the same as estriol.? Can it be used for external areas. My burning seems to be more in the urethral area now. No utis all tests have come back negative. Yesterday had a really good day, but today it's been awful again. I have been nearly close to tears. Wish it would go away much quicker. Seems any cream I use makes me burn. I have very sensitive skin anyway. Sorry for going on about this. Wish we could all have a magic cure. Thanks again.

Ovestin1mg goes into the vagina and doesn't touch the outer lips at all. For that I use Vaseline or KY, Savlon ……. LIVE yoghurt is soothing too. If I have problems with soreness I put Ovestin up for 2/3 nights then have a break then 2/3 nights - it really is finding what works to give you relief. You can't over-dose ;-)

I think that the flushes have an effect on our lady bits because everything gets far more hot and sweaty - so a perfect environment for bacteria and thrush to take hold which makes us burn and feel sore. I find I get the burning urethra when I've been sitting for too long as well - particularly on plastic chairs - yuck!!!! I wear thin unscented panty liners these days and change them regularly. I also try to 'air' my fanny when possible or wear really loose trousers on quiet days at home. I also use a bit of extra Multi Gyn actigel mid day if I feel things getting irritated around that area. I think it's about managing the situation - keeping things fresh and natural as possible.
I find the the oestrogen creams make me burn terribly - the Multi Gyn stings a bit at first, after application, but then it is very soothing. DG x
