Title: HRT - does it get worse before it gets better?
Post by: Suecee1958 on March 10, 2016, 10:19:28 AM
Hi - 6 weeks on femseven conti patches and although my hot flushes have gone, have noticed I am feeling really anxious at the moment.  I'm 57 and have been post menopausal for 8 years  and have suffered from anxiety for the last couple of years.

Not sure whether to stop the HRT, carry on as it's still early days or change the HRT - any advice would be really welcome! xx

Suecee1958 - I know you've been on the patches for 6 weeks but it might be as well to give them a bit longer to see if things settle down. It can take up to 3 to 6 months for things to sort themselves out. It's tedious waiting but these things can take time to work fully.

Thanks Limpy - am very impatient and hate this anxious feeling  :(

Do you know if this is a common side effect while you are getting used to HRT?

When I was on too high a level of oestrogen I was very jittery.  A lower dose worked better. But as Limpy says it can take a while for your body to settle.

Can you tell me what is classed as a lower dose?

Am seeing my gp tomorrow so would be good to have all the facts!
