Hi all
Not been on for a while. Was wondering if anyone has experienced tiredness/exhaustion that you cant seem to shift. I have been feeling tired since around November (about 3 months). The thing is that I seem tired for a couple of days and then perfectly ok for 2 or 3 days and that pattern continues. I guess what I am asking is this a normal symptom of Menopause. I am 59 , I have hrt patches twice a week with progestogen for a bleed every 2 months.
I also have underactive thyroid which I thought was stable on my medication, and on and off tiredness doesnt seem the norm for me for my thyroid problem, that is why I thought it was menopause as it is so up and down. Has anyone else experience this.

Me! I'm going through a phase of this too at the moment. It lifts for a while, then wham back it comes. I'll have a few weeks of poor sleep & feel exhausted, then when I dsepair of ever feeling normal, I'll get a few good days. I'm only on oestrogen.

Based purely on my own recent blood test results, it might be worth asking for B12 serum results in next blood test. I have crashing fatigue which comes and goes and thought it was meno/ thyroid (which it might still be); hadn't considered B12 deficiency as diet is reasonable, but looks like this is a problem for me.

Vitamin D deficiency can cause fatigue as well - particularly in winter. Maybe some blood tests to look at vitamin deficiencies and thyroid function would be a good idea Pandora. I have to say that I am trying to rest and relax more these days - I am about to turn 60 - I do find I feel better for having rest times occasionally through the day when possible - so a 15minute sit down and doing some Mindful Meditation does wonders to restore my energy. Frankly, I think it is about pacing oneself a bit more.

Me too! And when I get a good energy day or two, I overwork myself trying to catch up from all my lazy days. Then I'm exhausted again. I was taking a liquid iron supplement which has B vitamins as well, but it didn't seem to make a difference and my iron stores are fine, so I stopped. At this point I'm putting all my hope in the change of season soon. Spring always boosts my energy and mood.

Thanks for all your replies. At least I am not alone. I have an appointment in 2 weeks at endocrinology so will mention if I can have some bloods done for B12 and Vit D and Ferritin and Folate. Already had it done for thyroid so will get results for that when I go.
