Haven't had a period for 9 months, hot flushes stopped, anxiety 90% better
Thought that was it but guess what? Just started a period :-\

Yep. Mine were intermittent for a couple/3 years ::)

Yup, that is such a pain. Better keep a stash of pads at the ready. never know when it starts up again. :'(

Well, I've had the intermittent for the last 4 years but never an 8 month gap, Hey ho :-\

I carried protection for 5 years after my last bleed - in case ::)

Well, I've had cramps for 3 days but very little else apart from the odd smudge.. Does that still count as a period?

Hi Libby
I tend not to count it as a period if only smudge or one day bleed. I had gone 4 months this time, but got a proper period on Friday - at 53 I really thought I would be finished with all this now!
-
Hi Lily
It definitely wasn't a period, just a couple of smudges and a slight tinge. But I have got other hormaonal symptoms ie headaches, anxiety and low tolerance. Which had all gone for the last period free 8 months :-\
Oh the joys!!

How old are you Libby? Wish I could go as long as 8 months ::)

I'm 48 and had peri for 4 or maybe 5 years

:o think I must be one of those that bleeds until 55 or later ??? Although I do think I've been peri for a few years now ::)

I remember a friend of mine complaining a couple of years ago that she went 11 months and 3 weeks right and one then arrived in the middle of her holiday!
-
Oh no how annoying. I've done 7 months, get some hormonal stuff, and odd period style ache. I'm 54 really hoping I've finished periods, I'm sure some symptoms will still come though.
-
Well I am 56 in March and still in the throws of peri. Much lighter bleeding patterns now though- more like spotting and less frequent. Still have fertile mucus patterns though so oestrogen is still present. I have had some large gaps, too so you never really know when to say you are finished. Anyone else my age and still going on?

I'm virtually 57 and still not through!Fourteen year perimenopause so far - no really!
This is my longest cycle ever - 115 days (previous longest 67 days) and also experiencing very frequent hot flushes for past 4 weeks. I was really upbeat thinking things were finally drawing to a close but today feel bloated, with slightly uncomfortable breasts and dull period cramps and the hot flushes have suddenly calmed down today. I'm really hoping it's just a hormone surge and not a period. The disappointment will be massive if it's a period. Am I the oldest person on here still having frequent cycles?
Naffed off tonight!
