Photo albums, artists pencils and drawing paper, duffle coat. Some really old 78's which my husband and I can smooch too :)
-
I've been well and truly spoiled, my husband got me a leather jacket (which I knew about as I chose it myself). On Christmas morning he insisted I try it on and said it looked a little bulky, when I investigated there was a parcel in the pocket...... with a diamond necklace in it!
-
Ladies,
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas. We had a very quiet one. Just hubby, me and teenage son.
Turkey crown and all the trimmings yum! :)
I got a pandora bracelet and charms .... I got spoilt :)
Have a lovely Sunday ....

Shoes, flip flops, slippers and ankle wellies, all bought in a sale. Doesn't sound that exciting, until you realise how very long, narrow and shallow my feet are! I have never had wellies before as even with several pairs of socks on they are like boats. All from DH, plus a few bits and pieces and a cheque as DH has come into a lump of money. He wants me to spend it all on me. Think I'll open a savings account and think about it. DD gave me a spiraliser, which yes I do want! I can't tolerate even free from pasta, but spiralised courgette goes down a treat. Even if I never used it for anything else, it would be worth it for that. DS bought us a Bluetooth thingy that connect to the iPad etc, so we can listen to music etc.

Morning ladies, I got a posh Filofax which on the basis I have an iPad no one really gets. I do like a book though.
I also had a nice sparkly Swarovski watch plus a nice handbag.
Off my daughter I had a nana to be hamper which was lovely - full of bits and bobs - journals, the scan pics etc. Plus new headphones for my meditation. Lots of other nice things too - spoilt and loved and grateful ❤️

Morning:
I was spoiled for birthday and C.mas: books, bubble bath, undies, warm tops, jewellery, and best of all NO anxiety ;)
-
Hubby had already got me a jacket which I knew about as I chose it. He also bought me two necklaces & a pampering voucher. One necklace is a locket which he has put locks of grandchildren's hair into. Daughter had to clip some hair whilst they were sleeping & post to hubby. 😊
-
Now I need to buy: slippers, wicking walking layers for me; I also have an idea for Himself which I saw B4 C.mas so can now ask him to buy it via Amazon ………
I think that Mum was OK with what we choose thought each parcel was greeted with 'oh not more clutter, what ever will I do with it all' ………… :-\ bugga ……….

The older I get, the more I enjoy things I can use up - Lush stuff, bath stuff, chocolates, candles etc. or that die - like flowers!! I don't have a lot of house room for 'stuff'.

Sparkle....the exact wording is 'one night camping pod stay for two'. Dont know where I got the clamping from ::)
Sounds like you all got spoilt and quite rightly too.

Is the dog pleased with the comfy walking boots ;)
I think so, less of listening to me moaning about my sore feet. Though its a shame they are now all muddy ;)
-
I got moth balls from MiL .... do you think she is trying to tell me something? ;)
-
-
After all your grown-up pressies you are going to laugh at mine, but I love them! Hubby got me a huge lego set (that took me 2 days to build!) and a BB8 droid (from the new Star Wars movie) that is controlled by an app on my phone!! They sound like silly gifts, but they are perfect for me (hubby loves Lego too - I got him a Lego Mini!).
Daughter is as bad - she got me a stuffed Eeyore whose cheeks light up when you cuddle him! Christmas brings out the inner-child in everybody in our house ;D
-
I would love to mention the other two items too, but scared it might out me. (She may read this forum for all I know!) ;D x
-
oooh, Scampi I am very envious of your Eeyore!
Go on, Briony, risk the wrath of the MIL and tell us what your other presents were. Pleeeeease!
-
You could send PMs ;) - many years ago MiL gave me 4 serving spoons for my birthday with the words "I noted when we stayed that you don't have any serving spoons" - Himself was fuming. But a I explained, they were something required in our kitchen and his parents didn't have much money at the time. Never given moth balls though :-\
-
Scampi your pressies sound fab....lucky you. Eeyore sounds adorable, my cup of tea totally. Lego is great stuff you can build allsorts with it, I use to love building houses with it when I was younger.
Sadly we have 4 calendars intotal for our house next year. Hubby has a car one, and Ive got a donkey one, horse one and who remembers the thelwell ponies!! well I have a calendar of them two. We can only use one and it will get well used with apts etc, can anyone recommend what to do with the others, its such a shame to waste them as they are all nice.
Rather 4 calandars than mothballs though

We have a his/hers calendar where our appts. are put - one side of DH, the other for me. So 2 of your calendars can be against each other on the wall and if it ain't on 1 or the other, you aren't doing it ;D - that's at the foot of the stairs so that we read it each morning
Another in the bathroom - usually 1 which is relaxing. The other in our kitchen. Job done :-\
-
A husband at home who hasn't been kept in the Coronary Care unit for three nights over the festive period. This year is SO much better than last.
-
That's wonderful, Limpy. :)

Limpy got the best christmas present. :)
Clio

Woohoo Limpy!
I got an iPad and a lovely lingerie set from DH, a T-shirt from DD with 'I solemly swear that I am up to no good' on the front and 'Mischief managed' on the back, and 'Minions' & 'The Hobbit - Battle of the Five Armies' DVDs from DS. Happy as Larry.
Galadriel x
-
Smashing pressies Galadriel.
-
Thank you Limpy.
Oh... forgot to mention I got a colouring in book and pencils too... Hours of fun ;D
-
Scampi - I'm all ears ;D you can tell me, no one else is listening ……...
-
I got a colouring book and an adult dot to dot book :) but my best present was a pair of earrings that match a pendant I had for our silver wedding last June. Lots of owl things, my house us bursting at the seems with owls ::)
-
One thing DH bought I didn't like much so when it was found to be baggy we were able to take it back so I could buy 2 tops I do like ……...
-
However: the jumper which his brother/wife choose was too big, although a size 10 it obviously wasn't! ………. as they had kept the receipt they offered to change it for another but apparently 'because of the sales' that wasn't possible. So they bought me a 'top' what ever that might mean >:( and during their Happy New Year 'phone call last night, I heard 'when will you next be visiting?' - well why would we know we're only back 36 hours ::). Then I heard his brother say "It won't cost much to post a jumper will it?" :-\ :'(
This is my C.mas gift. 2014 my birthday present was, apparently, "too heavy to post" ……. that's without his brother even bothering to go to the PO to weigh it. So it stayed in the box on our dining room table until Sept. when I sold it because every time I looked at it I remembered his words. I expect I will feel the same about this 'top', 'it won't cost too much to post …… ' :'( Bugga.
-
The only present I got was a pair of earrings from the hippy mother of OH's 12 yr old daughter. The daughter lives with us. The mother I CANT STAND! So for her to be the only one to give me a pressie :hotflash:
To be fair, OH and I decided no pressies as we have spent a lot of money on 2 flights to blighty in Feb. Yay!
-
I expect I will feel the same about this 'top'
Seems likely doesn't it....... :-\
-
What did you buy for them CLKD?
Taz x :)
-
Items that had push came to shove, could have been posted ………..
-
Just wondered whether they were pleased with your choice. I had a jumper sized at a 10 but it's at least a 14 - so frustrating!
Taz x
-
I couldn't care less if they were OK with our choices or not. It's their attitude that has been the problem over the years; making me wait until C.mas to give me my birthday gifts …….. whereas however ill I was over the years they always got their gifts on 'time'.
I think that Companies are re-sizing clothing because the 1st World is becoming obese ……. :-\ - I had 3 items all marked size 10, only 1 fitted properly the others hung like a sack or were too tight >:(
-
CLKD - Don't think you would have been happy with anything they gave you whatever it was.
What was it, you kept something on your table cos you couldn't face looking at it. Yes that sounds like an open mind.....................
-
It was an OK gift. I had to wait until after my birthday before it was given to me and I liked it until: 'it was too heavy to post' ………. if they cared the thought wouldn't have crossed my B in L's mind and if they were bothered about the cost of postage, surely they would have bought something that was light enough to post, so that it arrived on time for my birthday. DH's comment was just that, 'why not buy something lighter then?'
It is their way of keeping control ……… they used to tell us that by waiting until C.mas Day before giving me my gift, gave them 4 extra days to buy something :-\ - but I have a birthday like everyone else, every 12 months and it doesn't suddenly arrive :-\. So the recent excuse is the weight of posting an item so that I get it in time for the event. Which if one cares about someone the cost doesn't enter into the equation!
Over the years: 40+ : they have rarely chosen something suitable to give me. When they know my hobbies and when over the years I have made suggestions >shrug< ……….. it got beyond 'it's the thought that counts' as it became obvious that very little thought went into their choices. At least the birthday card was lovely ……….
During the 4-5 years I was unable to socialise, 1 birthday they bought me a handbag when they knew I couldn't go shopping ……….. the year after my dog died they gave me floppy slippers like puppies: "because they look like *******" : ……….. and expected me to wear them over C.mas ………… they went to Charity ASAP.
A book on cats when they know that I can no longer have pets due to anxiety …………. "Because you must miss yours" ………
DH and I tend to buy presents throughout the year ……….. suitable for the person it is chosen 4 ;)
-
It seems as if it is rather a chore to buy presents for them and for them to buy for you? Wouldn't it be easier just to stop altogether. It's difficult if you rarely see each other to choose something that's appropriate. What do they buy for your husband?
Taz x
-
Stuff. At least by not seeing them often we can trot off to the Charity shop if necessary ::). I did suggest that we stopped buying for each other but that was vetoed by the other 3 with them saying 'but we like buying for you' ::) ……. I have resorted to writing a list which worked for several years but really, apart from bubble bath and good talcum powders, wild bird feeders, there's not much I need ………. tokens would suit but they 'don't do' tokens :-\ although they did send me a B&Q one with instructions of what to buy ………...
-
The replacement has arrived. A light, Summer top instead of a Winter jumper. Sized 8 so will have to fit it on. Not my colours at all >:( - no note in the package, not even an envelope with the receipt in case it needs changing again ……. :sigh:
So I rang to say 'thank you' for sending the parcel and of course, the question on Sat. morning was 'do you like it?' - well 'no, actually, not my colours really …….. ' a disappointed sigh from the other end: well she did ask! I also asked Himself if it was something he would have picked for me as a surprise and he shook his head firmly 'no'. >shrug<. So I've put the top away ………..
That's that until this year then ::) - anyone started C.mas shopping …. :whist:
