Title: Elleste Duet 1mg. Delay bleeding
Post by: Jube on November 22, 2015, 11:10:18 AM
I am on my first pack of Elleste Duet 1mg. Due to start taking the green ones tomorrow.
Have booked a romantic evening away for my partner's birthday and will be on my 1st white of new pack on that day. Would I be bleeding then?  If I miss the green ones altogether and just start new pack of white tomorrow would that stop a bleed? Is it safe to do this? I am perimenopausal - very irregular periods since last November and no period since August .  Advice please

Hi Jube -  The bleed is unlikely to start on the first day of the white pills - it's usually 2-3 days after you finish the green ones. You could possibly just take one extra green tablet from the next pack to delay things a bit more.

Just to add to Dancinggirl's advice, if you stayed on the white oestrogen only pills for the next fortnight then as you are peri-menopausal and your periods have been fairly frequent, depending on your own cycle, you could be more likely to bleed whenever your period was due as the oestrogen dose (from HRT) is not high enough to suppress ovulation - so you could bleed at any time. Although some women do bleed before the end of the combi/progestogen part of HRT, most women get the withdrawal bleed afterwards so not the morning after the last pill but the following day when your body registers a drop in progesterone.
