Hi there, i have just turned 40 in May and was confirmed by doctors that i am menopausal. The only symptom I think I have is feeling the need to pee constantly. If I have other symptoms I don't notice them because I am constantly thinking about peeing. I was given vagifem to take and was told to do the two weeks and then two tablets two weeks after. Did that and felt fine for about a week and then back to square one again. Doctor thought it would be a good idea for me to take hrt tablets. So now I am on femoston 1/10mg. Nearly finished my second box and still had the symptom. So doc told me to do the vagifem again along with the tablets. Did that and still the same.
So fed up feeling like this. Its is months now and still I have no relief. Would I need stronger hrt tablet with more estrogen.
Thanks :)

Hi Sparkle,
Thanks for the reply. Feels like I am dying to go to the bathroom all the time. I would empty myself and two minutes later I feel the need to go again. I am going back to the doctor anyway in a couple of weeks. He is on holidays at the moment.
Thanks. x

Yep its awful. Can't see an end to it. So far only the odd night I have had to get up to pee. Sometimes I can feel sore and itchy. Think I am going around the twist and I feel like I am boring my hubby and mother to death with me moaning about it. x

I did have blood tests done for other things. Liver, Bladder, Diabetes and other things. Everything came back clear. He is convinced it is to do with low estrogen.
Thanks, I'll be moaning to my hearts content. ;D x

You moan away. Maybe Vagifem isn't 'enough' so you could ask to change to Ovestin1mg with applicator. Again a 2 week nightly load and then every 3 and every 5/6 night. Sometimes I need to up that to 3 nights in succession if my bladder feels irritated.

Thanks for the reply CLKD. I am going to take the Vagifem again. Just to get me through the next couple of weeks till i get back to seeing the doctor. Will say it to him about the Ovestin and see what he thinks. Hopefully some changes ahead for the better. So much for turning 40!!! ::)

'take' Vagifem, I hope you are using it 'below' ;)

I was OK turning 30 - when I got to 31 I thought I would have suddenly put on weight overnight ::)
50 was difficult because I was planning a 'party' here but his brother refused to attend on the weekend we had decided upon >:( so M in L wouldn't come and my Dad was very ill ….. 60 was great ;D

I thought it was "life begins at 40" but my boss told me it was 50, now it seems it 60.... Only have 20 years to go!! ;)x

….. and get paid the same ::)

Hi Blackcat75
:welcomemm: from me too!
Sorry to hear about the peeing problem - very common!
I'm just a bit unclear about how often you are taking Vagifem. You've started the Femoston and then recently restarted the Vagifem right? The thing is if it was a while after you stopped the Vagifem that you re-started then you really need to do the two weeks re-laod again to plump up the tissues and then use it twice a week after that. For many women twcie a week maintenance dose is enough, but for others sometimes three times a week is needed.
Also some of us find vagifem actually irritates the bladder.
I am on full HRT (medium dose patches) and also vaginal oestrogen and for me using both together everything's fine down there ;). I was originally prescribed Gynest pessaries but these have been discontinued ( I am still using up what I've got left) but used Vagifem when on the progesterone part of my HRT cycle ( which is vaginal utrogestan). I always find that the day I use Vagifem I need to pee more but then it settles - of course then you need to use it again, but it's OK in between. However the peeing isn't so frequent as to be annoying.
Why not do the Vagifem re-load and see how you feel and then see what the doc says?
Maybe you're not absorbing the oestrogen from the Femoston? Some women don't do so well on tablet HRT (ie re absorption) although for general menopause symptoms this one is well tolerated.
There is some great info on this site about vaginal problems and treatments which you might have found?

Life begins at 60 definitely for me - doing much more at 60 than I did at 50 - but then I had my last child at 40 so was a bit tied up with things! :)
Hope this helps and keep us posted.

Hi Hurdity,
I am now doing a reload of the vagifem at the moment. My doc told me to stop taking it when I started the hrt at the start. I have taken it twice (once before starting the hrt and then once while on the tablets). Taken it a month at a time. I think maybe I need a stronger hrt tablet. Been taking the vagifem since last Wednesday and so far I feel a bit better. :)
Hopefully I'll find the right combination.

I have the same symptoms as you and use Ovestin cream daily which is an alternative to Vagifem. If I do not use it daily my symptoms return. I am also on Oestrogel and Utrageston.

The memo consultant I see has said it is ok for me to use vagifem every day as it has helped enormously
-
Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. Been back to the doctor and told me to use the vagifem every second day. I am also taking the hrt tablets as well. So far so good. So hopefully this is working. Sending me to see a gyne so waiting for an appointment. So see how things go. :)

Hi there,
Haven't been on due to Christmas and working. Been all over the place. Ended up on vagifem everyday for two months and taking premique hrt. Was changed from Femeston because could not be got anymore. So was great over Christmas and into the New Year. No issues whatsoever. Now that I've changed to every second day my symptoms have come back. Still waiting on a appointment to see a gyne. Feel like screaming >:( I would put up with anything instead of feeling like needing to pee constantly. Will this ever go away....
-
Was it the Vagifem that helped? Maybe it's not strong enough, could your GP swap you to Ovestin1mg or another 'type' …..
-
Hi CLKD,
Vagifem seemed to help alright. GP really doesn't want me to call back to him. Wants me to wait for appointment. He gave me a six month prescription for Vagifem. More or less to use it want ever way I want.

If it helps every night, if symptoms are eased, I would go with every night - quality of Life!
-
Your right think i might use it every night. Thanks. xx
