Title: Sanitary towels
Post by: toffeecushion on October 18, 2015, 07:53:07 AM
Can anyone recommend a good sanitary pad for heavy days.  Are incontinence pads any better?  I uae a night time pad at the moment but still have little accidents.

I remember that the blood ran down the crease of my bottom if I laid on my back.  Onto the sheets ........  >:( ........ Close fitting panties and laid on a towel with a very thick pad on, trouble was, it also ran out the side  :(

It was keeping them in place that was difficult.  Incontinence pads might be better?

They are huge CLKD.

Have you tried maternity pads. They are a bit bigger. I used to use the biggest liner I could get and then an older fashioned sanitary towel on top. I also layed on a towel in bed.

Miserable feeling though.

Hope you feel better really soon.

I found them useful along with a panty liner.

Give them a go.

I used to use a night time one and change every hour.  Some brands are better than others.  Anything slim-fit, with wings or that comes folded into 3 is hopeless.  You want the really thick bulky ones - I found that supermarket own-brands were often better than branded towels.  At night I would use two together to make one very long towel and lie on something that didn't matter if I did have a leak.

Oh, the joys of being a woman!  >:(

I used to do 2 pads, get up to change every three hours, whilst trying to sleep between changes wrapped in a towel, and it was a nightmare
then I tried the incontinence pants and they quite honestly have changed my life - no change required overnight  :)  They are a bit bulky and not the most comfortable, but it's a small price to pay for not worrying about the state of the sheets.

Have any of you thought about using  bedwetting mats for toddlers to protect the bed sheets instead of a towel? The Huggies ones are brill as they have peel off sticky tapes on each corner so they stay in place which is much better if you have a double bed as you can position where you want (Pampers also make them but they are only useful for a single bed as they have paper flaps to tuck under the mattress). They might be a bit sweaty to lay directly on top of(not too bad actually) but you can always put an old sheet over the top rather than laying on the actual bed mat and that way at least your mattress is protected. I find them brilliant. You'll find them in the aisle where the disposable nappies are lol!  ;D

Sorry I assumed you were using towels/pads on their own - my mistake ! I found Lillets super plus and a big thick wide pad the best at night but yes still sometimes leaked.
