We have become the proud foster parents of two baby girl hedgehogs. We are fostering for a local rescue centre which is feeling overwhelmed with all the poorly hogs found lately. Would be interested to hear anyone elses experiences with hedgehogs as we are quite new to it all!

Oh heck I'm not good at that kind of thing but someone will be along to tell you.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see them.

Hi jedigirl - I'm involved with a local wildlife hospital (HART Wildlife Rescue) so have lots of experience of hedgehogs - especially ones that are to small to be allowed to hibernate over winter. I trust you are being given lots of support from wherever you have got them from?

Oh sweet! Are they with you ?

Hi Taz, yes are being well supported by the rescue centre we are foster carers for, I was just interested to hear others experiences. We have two girls, aged approx 6 - 7 weeks. Tina is 274g and Binga is 261g, both abandoned by separate Mums but have been put together now. They are in good health, we just need to ensure their weight carries on increasing.
Yes CLKD we collected them yesterday along with many instructions and equipment. It felt like bringing a baby home again! ;)

Is this all round the clock feeding - who does the early mornings ;-)
-
No thankfully they have their main feed late evening, with fattening treats every now and again. They do need to be cleaned out every morning though, they reek havoc in the night! They're adorable ;D

Hi jedigirl - they are known for causing havoc. Here is a video of one of our fostered HART Widlife hedgehogs taken with a motion sensor infra-red camera. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkJRjjNnBxs
Will you have them until the spring?

Yes, probably until April if their weight is sufficient by then. Thanks for the link!

How are they?

Aww love hedgehogs!
I have a little collection of figurines in my house along with my big collection of elephants.
Little & large ;D

Hoglets doing well thanks. Their weight has increased and we have discovered Tina is actually a boy so renamed him Teddy! x
