Reviewing fireplaces for new place, whilst fuming over the appalling kitchen designer who took a week to produce the most basic of designs and emailed to say order by Noon on Monday to save a few quid, based on what exactly >:( No measurements, no indication of what's behind the doors, not even a pretty picture - DH has spent the evening trying to calm me down.........
Oh, and not helped by the alcoholic next door taking a wander round our garden as we were preparing dinner - given his track record I don't want him anywhere near me!!!
Sorry, as you can tell DH's efforts were in vain :(
-
DH took me out for a meal, then early to bed 5 hours behind you lovely ladies. This is proving to be a lovely holiday for many reasons, not least to being able to bond with our beautiful little granddaughter. We were researching the cheapest, but not too uncomfortable way to get to NYC to see my nephew before flying home. Flying is expensive, going on a coach for 7 hours sounds like torture, especially with IBS issues. We were thinking about hiring a car, but have just been offered a lift by a family member of my DIL's if DH is prepared to drive. No problem. He enjoys driving. What good fortune! All we have to do is book a hotel, but I see I can hold fire till the last minute and get cheaper rates. We can stay anywhere on manhattan island, so not restricted too much by location.

Just back from the pub which was entertaining as most of the regulars had been to a beer festival. Some interesting conversations followed by some boring conversations followed by slow slide into sleep for many of them. They appeared to have had a good day!

Who is Kevin Bridges :-\
Watching Strictly which we all know was filmed last night ::) - why aren't they honest ……..

I'm doing some ironing ... mind you there's not much with only two of us here now that the last one has flown the nest. Can't believe how easy it is running a house for just two people!!
Taz x :D
-
Me and DH just watched the ISS go over, an amazing sight :)
-
What's ironing ;D
Watching Ben Fogle and a fishing competition ……. in Iceland!
We've seen that recently. Exciting …….
-
It's something that I have to do sometimes - shirts do look better ironed so I've just ironed eight of them. :) I remember when I used to have twenty a week to iron. I don't mind if I have a good tv programme to watch.
Who's Ben Fogle? :D
Taz x
-
Who do keep up ;D - his Dad is Bruce Fogle ;)
-
Who is Bruce Fogel ? :o
-
;D you're obviously too young to have listened to The Jimmy Young Show ;) - Bruce was the resident Vet., his son rowed across the Atlantic Ocean with James Cracknell (before his accident).
Feet up - still :)
-
Ben started his TV career by being a castaway on a remote Scottish Island many years ago.

Worrying ,won't sleep tonight, my little Cavilier dog is having an operation on her leg tomorrow, for a Luxating patella and a ruptured crucial ligament . I am so frightened as she is almost ten, and has a heart murmer. Fingers crossed for my girl please 😢
-
Oh fingers crossed up here too. My dog had it done but she was quite young, but my sister's dog had hers done at 12 and its given her a new lease of life and she coped really well.
Let us know.

-
Hope it goes well Ellie.
-
Paws crossed Ellie :foryou:
-
Thank you everyone, no news yet :(
-
Early yet Ellie, what time do the Vets start surgery? I am sure she will be fine and lapping up any extra cuddles on her return. 10 isn't old! and if the heart condition (common in Cavaliers) is under control, the Vets. will take all that into account. Anaesthesia is much better controlled than years ago ;). Bet the house is oh so quiet :-\
-
Sorry my mistake she is almost nine not ten.....The vet hospital phoned, she is doing as well as they hoped, and they will phone me again around five .... She also suffers from another well know Cavi thing called Siringomylia (might have spelt that wrong) ....a horrid condition that affects their brain and spinal cord and causes a lot of pain....She has lots of meds for that. So with that and her heart problem, an operation is a big deal for her :'(
-
Bigger deal for you though ;) …….. she'll be asleep …….. and will be given pain relief if required.
Bet the day has been long …….
-
Ellie, the vets would not have done this if they didn't think she could cope and make a good recovery. She will be fine, dogs live for the moment and no further.
Are they keeping her overnight or will you get her home.
Honeybun
X
-
Yes CKLD have to admit I feel done in.....Lets hope when I go for my MRI scan they don't find anything too wrong. I shouldn't think the spinal leak I had will have caused the numbness I have.
-
Bringing her home tomorrow afternoon Honeybun.....You are right, she will be sore, but not giving us a thought.......The fun will start tomorrow, if we leave the room together, she has to be put in her cage, and that goes on for weeks.....and she can only go in the garden for a tinkle on her lead.
We had the cage when she was a puppy , but kept it because she goes in their when she has had enough of the Grandkids messing with her.......what a good job we kept it....
-
I had to borrow a cage, oh I remember it well but they bounce back really quickly. Really the only problem I had was I had to keep a cone round her neck as she is an obsessive licker.
Let us know how it goes.
