Hi everyone,
I've had vaginal atrophy for 3 years now and I've tried several forms of HRT and nothing as helped. At the moment I'm on Premique tablets and these are not helping me down there just making me feel totally lousy within my body. I have been on them only 5 weeks but I'm getting so down about this. It's affecting my life. I will give anything a go. I know I must stay on the premique for at least three months. The topical creams and patches have not worked either. Can anyone tell me which HRT helped them get their vaginal atrophy under control please.

Also forgot to say I absolutely dread going to the toilet as it stings so bad to pass urine. Passing urine can seem to bring on much more agitation inside me. Is anyone else like this or as been like this.

I don't use full HRT but experts on this forum say you can require a mix of local oestrogen plus full HRT to really sort things out. I can recommend the ESTRING which gives you a constant dose of local oestrogen equivalent to roughly 50mcg over the week. I am sure an expert will be along soon!

Thanks ancient runner. I will ask about trying Estring. Tonight I have felt so uncomfortable. I am at my wits end with this.

Hi - I use Estriol Cream (underneath as well - just use what is left in the applicator) twice a week and 'Yes' water-based vaginal moisturiser (also on the undercarriage area) on the other days and that works for me. I definitely need to use the moisturiser, otherwise I start to feel uncomfortable. I have had a terrible time with atrophy and recognise the stinging symptoms you mention. Which local oestrogen did you try and did you use it underneath as well? I think this might be the answer and also using the moisturiser on the other days. Oh and I don't use any other HRT. Hope this might help you!

Many here recommend vagifem as a pessary. So nothing to swallow which is what I wanted.
I have just started it, I think I must be getting placebo effect as it seems to be working. Fingers crossed.

I used Estriol cream to deal with VA prior to starting full HRT - it helped a lot, stopping the soreness when peeing and the razor blades sensation during sex.
I now use Evorel conti patches which sorts everything out, lubrication gel is used as required during intercourse.

Hi Jenna, I first used Gynest cream prescribed by the Urologist this was before a diagnosis of VA. He put a camera up me shook his head and said well your bladder has never seen an infection and I don't know what it is unless it's lack of estrogen and prescribed this to rub on the outside and put a little up with my finger and take a Nitrofuritoin antibiotic at night for maintenance. Then kept going to my Doctors constantly and no one ever examined me. Eventually when I asked for referral to a Gyno a doc said well we better get you examined. I went mad. Got examined by one of the female Docs who is actually great she confirmed VA. Got from her the Evoril conti patches felt great on them then at five months started to bleed badly. Have had vagifem kept getting thrush. Now on these Premique. Now still very sore and feel zombified. This may sound crazy but was willing to feel zombified if I was normal down there. I have got that YES water based lubricant. I will ask about the Estriol cream Jenna thanks for the post, it's been really helpful to me xx

Hi Sarai, Thanks for your post. I have tried vagifem but kept getting thrush whilst on it. I am pleased it is working well for you xx

Hi Limpy, thanks for your post. I will try and get this Estriol cream and Jenna also uses this. I'm pleased the Evoril Conti are working for you. These I found were great. I would be still on them if I had not bled constantly after five months. xx
