Hi! I am due to put on my 1st patch for the evorel conti tomorrow, so far I have used 4 evorel 50, so I was a little suprised when my period started today, and I came on very heavy! I thought your period happened when you started on the progesterone patches which I thought was the conti ones...... I'm so confused, is this normal.... Advice needed......Help!!!!! Hope this makes sense! LOL

Hi robotwars - it could be your own cycle breaking through. Is this your first try at HRT?

My first patch, tried prempak and cycloprognova pills but both caused digestive problems so GP said to try the patch............ this was third time lucky! LOL

Ah right!! Did you have to have a break between finishing one and starting the other? Not sure what the advice is as to when to start the patch.

no I didn't and I followed the instructions for the patch, doctor said to start it on day 5 of my period, so I did which means I have only gone a couple of weeks in the middle, so tomorrow I start on the conti patch so what happens to the period now!!! it's all so confusing, all I know is I have come on very heavy with terrible period pains............and hubby has a week off from Saturday... typical..............

Hmm the day 5 seems to be if you are not already on an HRT. If you are on a sequi HRT already this is what I've found
"Women on a cyclic or continuous sequential regimen wishing to switch from a sequential combined HRT preparation to Evorel Sequi may do so at the end of a cycle of the current therapy or after a 7 day hormone free interval."
It's from this site https://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/medicine/15325 under "switching from other HRT". Maybe this is the problem.? Not sure. I guess you just have to plough on with it and see what happens. Hopefully it will settle down quickly.

I understood if you were on HRT or not on HRT you would always keep the cycle going and start on Day 1 which is supposed to be your bleed - excpet if this comes before the 28 days of the previous cycle have elapsed.
Interesting to hear about the 7 days Taz - I haven't come across that before - I wonder why that is - presumably it;s a way of getting in sync although I can imagine it might make things out of sync of your own hormones break through!
Withdrawal bleeding usual happens during the second half of the combi patches/tabs or 2-3 days afterwards unless your homrones decide otherwise! I agree with Taz it could be your own hormones, and just carry on and see what happens during the next couple of months.
