Hi everyone.
I am on day 9 of my new regime which is 50 mcg estradot patch and 100 mg utrogestan which I started vaginally and moved to orally three days ago as it made me sore and hurt my bladder. Previous to this I was on femosten 1/5 and estradot patch 25 mcg.
I started to spot last night and have period pains this morning ( not had those for 10 years) is this normal. I didn't expect this I must say.
Have also had headaches since starting but hope they settle down. May be there was some lining to shed as consultant said I didn't have enough progesterone on previous regime.
I am really hoping this works for me and determined to give it some time.
I am 52 and have been post menopausal since 40 but had quite a bit of bleeding in the last year. Hysteroscopy was clear.
Thanks in advance

Hi Jayneaddo,
There are ladies with a lot more knowledge than me on the site , but yes the period pains are quite normal. Your body needs time to adjust to the new regime and you should give it at least 3 months .
I went through hell the first 2/ 3months of taking my HRT and really thought it was making me worse and I was so despondent. But now I am feeling much better .
I was very concerned about my symptoms , so I asked my GP to refer me to the menopause specialist nurse at the hospital , and that was a good move because even though I am improving , she has years of experience and specialist knowledge and will be monitoring me for the next 3 months at least.
I would advise you start a diary now of symptoms and ask to be referred to a specialist nurse at your local hospital if you are concerned. There is a waiting list , so I did it earlier rather than later, you can always cancel if you do not need it.
