Hi, Im so paranoid about mixing stuff since my doctor look at me in horror when I went to him once with a load of herbal stuff and said your mixing too much and this can be quite dangerous, so at the moment I am taking:-
Sage Tablets to try and help flushes/night sweats
Vit b complex
Bachs Rescue Remedy for anxiety attacks
Just started Niacin today and feel a bit odd
Am I mixing too much??? x

Think your best bet would be to ask a pharmacist they are very helpful and knowledgeable, more so than most doctors.
-
I take all of them (apart from the sage) + omega 3 stuff + hbp tablets so I reckon you are fine.

Doesn't sound like much to me at all.
Think you will be fine to be honest.
Doctors look down on supplements so do your own research....Dr Google is great for this kind of thing.

I could open my own pharmacy with all my lotions and potions!
I've just ordered a pill organiser as OH gives me funny looks at bedtime as I'm getting each tablet out of the foil packs
I have all B complex
Magnesium
Iron
Vit D
Omega 3
Hrt
Pro gest cream to rub on
Inhaler
Take my lenses out, do my long drawn out dental regime (then the vagifems and reopens nights)
I'm whacked out for any canoodling once I turn the light out

You only have one herbal remedy in there, the rest are supplements with their own daily allowance info, I think you are fine too. Problems can occur if you mix different herbal treatments yourself and without the guidane of a herbalist or taking a prepared product from the shops.

thanks everybody your so kind and helpful x

Hi karenja
Youi are right to ask this question because Niacin is vitamin B3 so not sure why you are taking this in addition to Vit B complex which presumably includes niacin? It isn't wise to take too many vitamins way over what your body requires because sometimes they can be harmful and also the kidneys etc have to metabolise and then excrete them. A small amount of gentlae supplementation now and again if you are shown to be vitamin deficient is probably fine but it is far, far better to get all of that in your diet - as much as possilbe of your daily requirements!

Thanks hurdity I've only taken on vit b so far as I read on here to take it along with b complex can help anxiety but can see the b complex and b 12 I take combined have got niacin in them, I should really check this before spending more money albeit a fiver, thanks x

I've realised my GPs don't know everything - a recent revelation to me as pre menopause I really did have more faith in them...
Some vitamins can be detrimental if you overdo it but do Google and read up on these. I tend to look at two websites at opposite ends of the scale on this - WebMD for the conventional approach and Mercola for the naturopathic. I've been taking a number of supplements recently and have cut out all processed foods from my diet and I'm feeling so much better for it. (dairy and sugar also drastically reduced). I think the secret is to keep a record of how you're feeling and if something gives you side effects then reduce or stop. My daughter's eczema has cleared up with dietary changes (and not the cortisone creams handed out by the GPs) and my skin has been really soft since the changes.
My GPs don't seem to know much about nutrition (or are cynical) but recent hospital visits unearthed a few enthusiasts.
