Title: Hello all. It's been awhile.
Post by: angelindskiexx on April 21, 2015, 10:04:33 AM
Hi all...  Hope you are all doing well. It's been awhile since I posted. I'm still in perimenopause even at the age of 54!  I thought I was so done with this!  After my periods stopped I started to feel much better...  I was skipping for several months with light bleeds. The longest I've been without a period is 11 months... Anyway, I'm now on a very heavy period and I feel like crap. My anxiety levels are high and I'm feeling depressed.  I feel so ' out of it'....   I've always suffered with very heavy periods throughout perimenopause and it was such a relief when they stopped happening so frequently. I've tried taking Northisterone to stop it but I can't stand the side effects. I have a question... can stress bring on a period?  My daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy a few months ago and the stress was unimaginable. I desperately tried to control my feelings when I was around her, but I couldn't prevent the anxiety and depression as a result if the news. She's on strong meds and still struggles.  Plus my husband has been ill and is now on statins, BP meds and blood thinners. Life has been very hard lately.

Sorry you are having a bad time, but it is good to hear from you.  I remember you helped me so much when I was having a very long and heavy bleed back at the end 2013.  I don't know if stress can bring on a period but someone here will.

Fingers crossed.  This month was the first time I have had a very light bleed.  So heading in the right direction :)

Hi Jess, sounds like you are going through an awful time of it. I believe stress can have an influence. Mine come and go all year for the last three and If there's stressful  things happening you can bet I will get one. I can't imagine how awful it must be for you. I have a thirteen year old girl and would fine it so hard not to show the worry in front of her. I hope things get easier for you.

Thank you Annetta. It's been horrible. We bought her a car for her 21st Birthday which was in December last year. She'd passed her test in the August....  First attempt.. she was so chuffed. She wanted the new Peugeot 108 with pink wing mirrors.  She'd driven it three times before she was told she couldn't drive anymore. At least not yet ..  When I look out of the window and see her little car on the drive my heart aches.  Bu she has coped so well. X

I am 55 and I also went 11 months before my periods returned last year. Since then I have had a few very light ones very spaced out, and am expecting to bleed again as I have days when I feel like I might. I was regular until about 2 years ago, so I guess it explains why at 55 I am not post yet. Also my cycles were more like 35 days not 28, and I had 5 pregnancies so maybe that is a factor. Also my great gran had a baby at 49.

Perhaps you could think about your family history, previous cycles etc to see if there is a pattern. Also are you seeing signs of high oestrogen such as stretchy vaginal mucus or breast tenderness? These signs may indicate you are still making oestrogen and therefore a lining that needs to be shed, even if you are not actually ovulating.

I AM seeing signs of high oestrogen, yes! Had a migraine for a few days prior to this period and a couple of weeks before that I had breast tenderness.  Maybe I should start taking some bio identical progesterone cream ... maybe that will help. X

Hi Jess, I think very often our children cope amazingly with things thrown at them and we as parents can't help but feel pain and anguish for them. Your daughter sounds amazing, I hope she gets to drive her lovely car again soon. My two are both still teenagers and if I had planned it better I would have had them earlier so I wasn't going through the menopause while they were in their teenage years (My poor hubby). I asked my daughter the other day for an oestrogen transplant as she has too much and I have too little. I cope with the stress with exercise and talking to friends. Do you have any support from friends and family? Yoga is a great.
I suffer with migraines if I don't drink enough water. Keep your fluids up.
