Post by: Nata on March 17, 2015, 02:29:24 AM
Is anyone else experiencing something like that? It fells quite scary... I have scheduled an appointment with my cardiologist this Friday but I am afraid that something awful might happened before...
47 yo, last period was three months ago, right now is the period when the symptoms are severe. I had very easy January and February

If you're really worried I would try to see a doctor sooner than Friday. Palpitations seem to be such a common perimenopause symptom, but I'm not sure what you mean about tightness.

Hi Nata,

One of the first symptoms I noticed last year was tachycardia and palpitations.
I saw my GP and was refered for cardiac tests. I'm still waiting for the results but seemingly there's nothing wrong with my heart. I saw a women's health specialist recently, who said it is a common sign of hormonal changes.

However, you are right to get it checked out.

You are not alone ,I get palpitations, anxiety and I feel tightness around ribcage area,I think those type of symptoms go hand in hand with each other and they seem to be quite common issues suffered by many others on here ,they too have had numerous tests ,visits at cardiac hospitals nothing found. You are right to get it checked out but I'm sure you will have nothing to worry about.

Stress can cause the muscle over the heart to contract which feels tight and can be painful and cause difficulty breathing.  I was taken in to hospital with a suspected heart attack in my 20s only to find it was this.  But definitely worth getting it checked out asap just in case.

Ive had what u describe minus the tightness but there again maybe it is tightness cos I cant breath with fear?
I started taking Beta Blocs after checks etc and with in 2 weeks or so the Skippies as I called them went
Oddly enough today I have the terrors been building for the last 2 weeks so this am I took a 1/4 (supp to take 1)
Hour or so later I feel so much better 1/4s not enough half is good but I start off low and if its not gone in 3 days
I use half the last time I had this it took 29 days to go (I have a diary always have) And I know it was that long
As I wont use a whole one as I feel weird light headed just odd but halfs fine Please see your GP dont stress
The more your scared the worse it gets I know its easy to say or in this case write. BUT its true.
