Hi all. I am a new member, aged 45 and soon to have a total abdominal hysterectomy. Has anyone advice regarding HRT following the procedure.

Hi and welcome to MM Bella0174
As you are having a total hyster you are fortunate as you will only need to use oestrogen. At your age it will be advisable to have oestrogen to protect your heart and bones. Do read up all the info on this site and get back to us with questions. DG x

Thank you. Will do x

I was given tablets initially, then a few years later oestrogel, now patches. I'd say gel or patches is the best way to go, safest way to take it. I became lactose intolerant, which is why I changed initially & glad I did.

Hi Bella0174
:welcomemm:
If you need any advice on which HRT to try then do ask. Also sometimes women also need testosterone after a total hysterectomy - and this is also explained on this site.
Good luck with your operation and recovery

:welcomemm: ……. this is information your Gynae should have given you >:( ::) - so do ask then you can go back and tell him/her what you want ….. do you have a date for surgery?

Thank you. I've made an appointment with my gp to discuss HRT options. I've no date for the op yet but will be having it done within the next 2-4 weeks. Very nervous x

Of course you will be nervous. >Bella<
Take that list to your GP/Practice Nurse - the Consultant might have written with suggestions :-\
