Title: VagiCap
Post by: Isithotinhere on February 21, 2015, 10:59:06 AM
Has anyone heard of this?

I am on Vagifem but wonder if this would be any different/better.

From the scant information available on the internet it looks as if it contains Oestradiol which is the same ingredient in Vagifem.

I  hadn't heard of this so thanks for posting Isithotinhere but there doesn't seem to be much difference in inserting a gel capsule to inserting a vagifem pessary and the ingredients do look to be the same.

I've just found this online http://seekingalpha.com/news/1530111-therapeuticsmde-vagicap-treatment-performs-well-in-two-studies  which says

"The results of the studies showed substantially lower systemic exposure to the estradiol hormone of the VagiCap - also known as TX 12-004-HR - vs Vagifem"

Sounds encouraging Taz. I think I'll mention it next time at the docs.

This is really interesting, isithot.

Useful that they are doing trials in 3 different strengths:

TherapeuticsM, manufacturers of the VagiCap, began a phase three trial in September 2014 which is investigating 4 mcg, 10 mcg and 25 mcg doses of oestrogen as different options to meet women's treatment needs.

Vagifem definitely affects me systemically - never thought I'd survive on the lower 10mcg but it's fine, maybe 4mcg would be okay in time.

Will enquire at next meno clinic appointment about this.
