Have you tried reading any of the Clair Weekes books re anxiety.

They explain what is happening, why and how to deal with it.

Now you are off HRT you could also try St Johns Wort which is good for anxiety. There is also rescue remedy and lemon balm.

Just a few thought that may help.

Feeling faint with anxiety is horrible, I hope the counsellor will help.  It's hard to remember when you are in the midst of things but try to keep telling yourself and your body that 'all is well' the bodily sensations are anxiety and they will subside.

I was once told to focus on the idea of adrenalin rather than the physical sensation and try to detach and let it run it's course.  I was told that the anxiety can only rise so far and then it stops - it is our minds and worry that keep it going - it's very hard because the flight or fight mechanism is a natural one.  That's why I think mind over matter is one of the best ways to overcome it.

I also second some herbal remedy support, calming teas that you can buy and there are some herbal pills containing valerian and hops that sometimes take the edge of it. Good luck

It's scary and unpleasant but keep telling yourself it won't harm you.

There is a supplement called L theanine, which is often combined with lemon balm and proven to be really effective for anxiety.
