Title: bruising where patch was
Post by: Dandelion on January 21, 2015, 03:48:28 PM
Hi

I put a patch on very top of the thigh, and alternate thighs each change.
This has been working great, but I noticed bruising where my patch used to be.
I am not having any irritation or anything, but there is just a big ugly bruise where it was.
Taking the patches off is not a problem.
I have not knocked myself there or anything, so am wondering why the bruise?

Hi Dandelion

It is likely to be nothing to do with the patch I would have thought (well haven't heard of this anyway). If it is on your thigh then you may well have knocked it without realising. I get all sorts of bruises -especially on my legs and never remember banging myself! I wouldn't worry. I think we all tend to bruise more easily as we age due to thinner skin and tissues generally.

Hi Hurdity
I definitely didn't knock it. It's sort of at the very top of the thigh, almost on the pelvis, an odd place to knock. I would have remembered, cos I do knock myself a lot.

I really agree with Hurdity but if your concerned you could call your GP.

I did a patch change this morning.
When doing this I noticed that the site of the last but one patch change had quite a few little raised spots. No irritation or itching. The plan, avoid that area for the next few changes.

N.B.  The thought of stopping HRT makes my blood run coolish..........

I get bruises on places that I am convinced I haven't knocked, as I haven't hurt myself. As an aside, I can really bash myself and not bruise. Weird!

Hi Ladies

It is a really weird place for a bruise.
If it were lower, maybe.
I dunno I will just keep an eye out and if any more bruises appear anywhere else I will tell the doctor.
Bit of a puzzle though. :)
