Can someone offer please reassure me. My turkey neck and wings look dry and reddish unlike the rest of it, is this normal. I have never cooked one before and chickens are usually moist and the same colour all over. It is game hung so I am wondering if this would make it drier.
I know I am probably being overly concerned, but do you think it it ok?

Hi toffeecushion,
Sounds fine to me. I usually smear butter liberally over my turkey and cover with streaky bacon to protect the wings, legs and breast during the roasting process. Just think of it as a big chicken.
Good luck.

Sounds fine to me too - you've got a good bird there which should taste better for being game hung.
I've always found a lot of fat comes out with cooking and spoon some away out of the roasting tin leaving enough to baste though.

It should be ok.
Make sure there isn't a bag of giblets inside the bird - melted plastic does not enhance the flavour........

If you really don't fancy it cut it off! we always cook ours in a saucepan - neck, giblets [removing plastic bag first], heart, gizzard ……… main bird goes into the roasting pan …...
