Well, according to my 2 year old grandson, they make very good mops!
My daughter got the box out containing their small artificial Christmas tree this morning for their correspondingly small lounge. She got distracted for a few minutes and came back to find him 'mopping' the carpet with the tree. Well, he hasn't had much experience of Christmas trees! His dad said he thought the advantage of artificial trees was that they didn't shed their needles as he vacumned up all the bits. Not sure whether the tree survived. :o

;D
I love real trees, but a lot of money to fork out for a few weeks. Son persuaded me to buy a beautiful artificial tree a few years back. One of those ones you have to insert branches in. Took ages to put together, let alone decorate. Long story short, we donated it to DD when they lived in Dundee. But they moved south. Tree was in big tree bag in loft. They forgot tree when they moved. We imagined next owner thinking there was a body in it! It was certainly big enough & heavy enough! We'll never know.

My sister gave me a lovely slim tree when she changed to a fibre optic one. The one we had was enormous and sat in the bay window of our old house and was far too big.
We still have the old one and last year hubby broughtt the tree out and spent ages assembling it only to discover we had put the big one up be mistake ;D
I have yet to have a real tree that did not shed its needles usually as you carry the bloomin thing through the house to get rid of it ::)
I wish you had a photo of the mopping incident Ju Ju. Bet it was hilarious.

I bought a small potted real tree years ago which was planted out after xmas and survived for several years being brought in and out. Replanted with a bit of compost, gromore and muck to give it a boost. Still there but a bit big now and hasn't been brought in for 4 years.
Pine needles in the hoover though even with a black bag drawn up around it to take it out of the house.
My daughter has a large yucca plant in a pot in the corner of her small living room and decorates that at Xmas.

My husband has just finished putting ours up. We aren't putting much up this year as we won't be here for Christmas and are not having any visitors this year but he does enjoy doing the christmas tree :)
-
For years we had a yew tree - in a large pot, came in and out of the dining room. Then it grew too large! We now have an artificial green one, it's in the attic - ready dressed, DH will pull it through the hatch during the week, plug it in and hey presto!
However - if the grandson would like to bring his new mop here ;)

Gosh aren't they poisonous :sick02:

;D …………. most plants that we grow in our gardens are poisonous ;) …….. it poisonous if you eat it! but the blackbirds manage on the red berries.

My husband has just suggested we put up the Christmas tree tomorrow when we look after our grandson. I don't think so! Maybe I'm a spoiled spoilt as it is a large artificial tree which slots together. Plenty of bits to mop the floor with! ;D

I have a tree in a pot outside my flat's kitchen window, on a flat bit of roof. I decorate it with white led lights and it looks so pretty. It was our indoor tree 3 years ago and we just planted it out to see how it did. So far so good.
This year's 3ft one is going out later. Makes me sad. Wish I could find a use for it.

This was on the mid-day News! and why not.
Last year we took large builders bags to Twycross Zoo for the orang utans to play in ;) so do ring your local animal park before disposing of 'stuff', even really large card board boxes and old childrens' toys are welcome!
Have a look for your local 'zoo' old sheep? - see how your local Council re-cycle them ours does a kerb side collection
-
We have a fairly big artificial tree, which is probably best as we're in a flat, but I do miss the smell of a real one. Still, there's always a huge, real one at church, which I
can take a sniff at each time I walk past it...........
-
I use a pine-based essential oil ;)
-
Wish I could find a use for it.
If you know anyone who keeps goats they will eat anything including christmas trees.
-
Goats eating pine? do check first!
I want to go to Linton Zoo, it's been on our list for years ::)

Goats eating pine? do check first!
I've seen goats happily eating an old xmas tree - like everything perhaps in moderation.

Will that taint their milk :-X ?
-
Ours had been up for a few weeks and was so dry when we took it out that my husband chopped it up and we've used it in the wood burner! Apparently it's lucky to burn christmas greenage ;)

Will that taint their milk :-X ?
Not if their name is Billy. ;)

The trunk burnt normally and the branches with pine needles went up like sparklers :) I had to shove them in and close the doors quickly :o

pine needles went up like sparklers :)
One year i tried burning pieces of conifer tree hedge we'd had had cut down on a bonfire - not a good idea as it all flared up - too much resin in pine - not good for your chimney either.
Next time i paid the person who cut our hedge to take all the cuttings away.

We went to see the lions with their trees at Linton on Wednesday - Zoo is SHUT ! :cuss:
-
What a pity - if you look at their website they are open weekends in Jan - also says no cheques or card payments in the coffee and gift shop - just in case you go again on a cold day and get caught out without cash.
-
Oh I won't be going again! On their web-site it states in red that they are open daily ….. and there is a sign in Linton saying 'Zoo open today' >:( …….. it's a trek. Someone looking at the web-site shouldn't have to scroll down to find out which days they are actually open ….. I would have rung the bell on the gate but DH didn't want confrontation :( and it's a trek from here!
Other Zoos are open daily except C.mas so they will get my money. How a Zoo can be open on weekends but not in the week …….. surely they need monies to feed the animals :-\
-
It doesn't actually say Open Daily CLKD - it says weekend openings http://www.lintonzoo.com/ but maybe they have updated it? What a shame you had a wasted journey. I love Linton Zoo.

"OPENING TIMES
"The zoo is currently open from 10.30am closing at 4.00pm.
Last admission 1 hour before closing. "
in large RED letters >:( - currently is the key word : having read the above I didn't scroll down the page ……… and the large banner 'Zoo Open Today' in the village is different to weekends how exactly? They have lost my money …….
Our artificial tree has finally been shoved into the loft ::) …….
