I am having Christmas Day with friends. Late breakfast for me and present opening and then a late meal about 4 at a friend's house with all her family. Will be about a dozen of us altogether. Lovely treat being cooked for! I shall enjoy that just as much as the occasion. I will have to be teetotal though as I will be driving.............never mind!
What are you doing? :) :) :)

Long lie in hopefully. Then breakfast, open presents. Only hubby & I this year, so will seem quiet compared to last year when we spent it with family. Keeping it all low key though.
-
Hopefully a nice quiet day. Presents after my daughter comes home. Short duty visit and then home for dinner and a few glasses of wine.
No big fuss just peace....Oh and prezzies ;D

Family breakfast, dinner, a few games then choccies & TV.

Meeting choir at church at 10pm on Christmas Eve, for rehearsal
Having strong coffee while they all have sherry - don't want to be woozy while playing!
Playing for midnight service - playing new and tricky piece at the end - wish me luck! ::)
Home to bed, Hubby driving
Up not too late, for Christmas brekkie and present-opening
Playing for morning service - me driving - Hubby gets to stay at home
Back to the ranch for a couple of hours, bath maybe, coffee definitely!
Over to in-laws for Christmas dinner. (Soooo glad SIL is doing the cooking!)
Back home for zzzzzzzzzzz!

A proper Watchnight service. Up here they're having services at 6pm. I used to love going to Watchnight service. Daughter went to service at winter gardens locally one year. Place was lit with candles. She said it was so beautiful. She bought me a little poinsettia for a £1. It lasted for ages.

:-\ …… struggling. :sigh: we will travel on C.mas Eve, carry stuff into his brother's, then into Mum's, feel on edge until we determine her mood ……. well, you did ask :-X
DH and she will cook C.mas lunch, we'll watch The Queen - usually we make the present opening last all day - BD will be spent at his brother's - his wife cooks the lunch …….. home on 27th weather allowing.
Roll on 5th January ………..

Because of my agoraphobia in the past, we stopped visiting people on Christmas Day and to be honest I am so glad we did. At times I wondered if I should make the effort, but I would be so anxious, it would be awful for me. This may make me sound so selfish and humbuggy but I would rather spend Christmas with my husband and children relaxed in my our surroundings. I wonder how many people, deep down, would rather do the same?
-
It doesn't sound selfish or humbuggy, toffeecushion. Hope your Christmas Day is a lovely one.
-
Immediate family only for us. Has been for years. Not sure I'd feel comfortable visiting people on Christmas Day.
-
At home, except for visit to Mum (who, despite being vitually wheelchair bound and almost unable to walk on a flat surface, asked me if she was coming to us for Christmas Day - we live in a tiny terraced house with 5 steps to get into the house, and the only toilet is upstairs!!!).
My daughter's friend from Uni is staying with us (she is from Lithuania and cannot afford to go home for Christmas - I can't stand the thought of her being on her own) - we will get up when we feel like it, open pressies over a leisurely breakfast, accompanied by the smell of the turkey roasting. Christmas dinner around 2pm (my favourite meal of the year to cook!), visit Mum around tea-time, then home to veg in front of the telly.
Boxing Day - don't intend to move!! Left-overs to eat (always plan left-overs!), and Lego from Santa to play with!!!
-
Just me and OH as it always is thank goodness, facetime and speaking on the phone to family.
Favourite meal of the year about 2pm, cold leftovers for tea again my favourite, I make soup the day after Boxing day with leftover Turkey again delicious.
I don't stress about Christmas.
-
It's panic attacks that put me off the whole celebration - the 4 years we were able to be here were lovely .......
-
DS is spending Christmas with us for the first time in about 7 years (usually goes to his Dad's in Dubai) so he'll be waking up with us on Christmas morning - even got stuff to do a stocking for him ;) Nice walk in a nearby wood with the dogs then over to my sister's pub just as they finish lunchtime bar and brother-in-law will be cooking up a storm. My other sister, partner and kids are also coming over and we're all staying overnight as well. We did it last year but hubby had only come out of hospital on 23rd and was still quite poorly - we ate then left pretty much soon after. He was gutted about being in a pub and not having a drink so I think he'll try and make up for it this year :D
-
We'll be with my Dad and his girlfriend for Christmas and New Year, a long vacation hopefully. He lives about 4 hrs drive from us in a quiet beautiful village. Big house, lots of space for all of us. Hope there will be some snow by then!
-
Oh keep your snow until after we get home, plleeessse :-X :P
-
going to my cousin who's difficult to put it mildly. She gets hysterical with arranging Xmas and it's totally traditional. Her mother will be there - OH and I take bets on how many seconds she takes to say something offensive. Her son will be there too, with his OH and baby girl and they are nice people, so will cling to them like limpits. Some friends of cousin's will be there too who I don't know.
Wish I'd had the courage to say no and to spend it at home with my husband. He's working Xmas Eve until 5 so we aren't going to the nicer Xmas party at a friend's outside of London that we usually do (it's often on Xmas Day which gets me out of the family one).
Boxing Day - rest, see friends in the late afternoon. OH back to work the next day.
-
I'm going to be sharing Christmas dinner with four people who have perfect pitch, and four (including myself) who do not! My hubby, daughter, Dad and SIL all have it, while the rest of us don't. I have thought of suggesting that we sit perfect-nonperfect-perfect-nonperfect-perfect-nonperfect-perfect-nonperfect round the table that evening................. ;D My twin sister also has perfect pitch, but she'll be in Norwich.
-
Dulciana - Christmas is not the time for having perfect pitch.
Just be go for it, be loud, and enjoy it.
Going elsewhere for Christmas, no cooking - Yay......
New Year - cooking will be involved ::)
-
Will singing be required though. ;D
Both my hubby and son are tone deaf....and I really mean it. My son was told in primary school when all the children had to sing just to pretend. He was quite happy with that. So if singing was required at a dinner party.... :o

Oh, I will, Limpy - there'll be tinsel and lights from the organ that night!
-
Cases packed
Presents/parcels lined up
Drinks - lined up
List to tick off before we travel
Will be off in the morning - after which internet connection may be at the least, intermittent >:(
Hopefully will be back by Sat. afternoon :-*
Have a peaceful few days Girls!
-
Packing a few days B4 the off
Staying at Mum's house
Cooking on C.mas Eve when it's more peaceful for the 2 of us
Visiting with Mum the next day
Home ASAP ;)
-
Nothing much. I'm cooking the simplest dinner possible.
OH will be at work all over xmas and new year. So will only have a couple hours together, each day.
Well, absence does make the heart grow fonder! 🥰😍
-
I'll be sipping cocktails on our cabins balcony in the warmth
Ok ok I'll get me coat ;D
Probably be in a force 10 gale and feeling seasick, I know that's what you're all hoping for ;D ;D
-
Come now jaypo, do you really think we believe you'd rather be sunning yourself on deck instead of crawling around in the muck with you hand up a sheeps backside in the cold here while the sprouts boil dry? ;D some of us know how to live the high life ::)
-
Travelling to Mum's property C.mas Eve: visiting in the afternoon then cooking our meal that night
Going to see Mum most of C.mas Day. Will eat our cold left overs in our camper whilst she tucks into hers in the Home
Chill out, probably sleep most of the evening - we did last year ::)
Boxing Day will be spent with his brother/wife
Home via a quick visit to Mum the next morning ;)
Hopefully I will get some sleep during the few nights away :-\
-
You do make it sound very inviting sheila ;D ;D
-
She does. I might bob round to yours myself Sheila.
-
Yes me too, think I'll cancel my cruise, tell your sheep to be prepared sheila ;D
-
I hate sprouts and have icy cold hands I'd fit in perfectly ;D
-
In a manner of speaking TH ;D ;D
-
:na:
-
Lovely and warm for your hands inside a sheep TH. Nice to see so many volunteers, I can leave you all to it and eat my turkey ;D. I'll bring the mince pies out when you've finished.
No no jaypo don't cancel, I was thinking if a swap... ;D
-
I'd rather birth a lambkin than go on a cruise ;D
My first live delivery was a piglet :-* - gilt got on with no help at all, a heave and there the wee beastie lay ...... and I've seen chicks crack out of eggs :D
-
But sheila you'd have to go with my OH,not sure I'd inflict his snoring on anyone :o
I'll never forget this one time,my horse was stabled on a farm and I was up to see him and had my daughter with me,it was her birthday and the farmer came running out and said,do you want to see a calf being born,I was like oh yes please,so we quietly stood at the barn and the cow gave birth to twins,it was amazing, won't ever forget it
-
Nothing. Like Christmas cake so have just put marzipan on that.
-
We are staying here. Through choice. We gave his brother/wife a small gift each in November, I have sent my Mum a small box of soaps - hopefully the staff will help her open it. We travelled for over 40 years ....... time to put feet up in front of roaring fire and TV.
Seasons Greetings to you all. Stay safe.
-
Hope you and Mr clkd have a nice relaxing time :)
Still hoping we're going away on Thursday but it's anyone's guess,no word from Cunard but I suppose their hands are tied
-
Tnx. We will ease into the weekend in a gentle fashion ;-)

Dont you have another celebration before the weekend ;D
-
;D yep ;D. today :bouncing:
We were going to a Zoo but it's too chilly, dull and drizzling.
-
:hbday:
Enjoy your day CLKD

:thankyou:

We are going to my brother's for Christmas Day dinner. Our province has just limited the indoor gathering numbers to just 10, so we will be a group of 9, all vaccinated, so we should be fine.
Dh's brother is planning a family gathering next week even though he and is wife are still not vaccinated and refuse to do so plus it would be a group of 14. He said he's not worried about the limit...so basically he doesn't care about his family's health. I don't plan on going. Everyone else can make up their own mind and take the risk.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLKD 💞💞💞
-
:thankyou: lovely. Restful day. Thus far.
C.C. - will your Dad go with you? I am avoiding most places, we were going to a large antique centre yesterday but then looked at each other and decided not. On an 'in case' basis. I certainly won't go anywhere that might have people unvaccinated .......... that's there choice, mine is to keep well away.
-
I wouldn't risk it either, hospitals here are filling up with mostly non vaccinated people, was listening to a nurse on the news and she says it's completely different from last time, younger people rather than older
-
R they requiring ICU though ?

No, it's dh's side of the family so he won't be going. He's tripled vaxed as of Thursday but he's my main reason for not risking exposure. He will be coming with us to my brother's house.
-
How's it going ....... ask me on 3rd January :D
-
Fingers crossed and LFTs permitting my family are coming here. Two sons staying in my house from Christmas Eve and the other and his wife staying at my ex's house. We all spend Christmas Day here and then Boxing Day at the ex's. He lives just round the corner. It's a waiting game really seeing if everyone is still negative on Christmas Eve.
Some of them have been going into work a couple of days including my partner but I've made the decision not to go to the pub or anywhere else not essential as I want to stay clear as long as possible. I'm so looking forward to having us all together after last year but hardly dare to hope!

Go for it Taz. By C.mas Eve ............ ;)
