I like the idea of a comedienne

I will go for brainy, funny or opinionated:
Stephen Fry
Julian Clary
Edwina Curry
And the Proclaimers to provide the music!
Small table - a large chicken will do with lots of roast potatoes!
-
;D
so who will they sit next too? ;)
-
I would only want three
Scott Bakula
Sir Patrick Stewart
Francesco da Mosta
And I would want them all to myself -sorry :)
-
 ……. sorry that's note part of the game
-
bramble - the Proclaimers - oh yes, love Sunshine on Leith
so.....Craig and Charlie Reid
James Norton
er, um, can't think of any more (sorry, sleep deprived ::) )
-
Actually, I'm going to be a bit sad here.
No celebrities, they are boring.
My family, well my two kids and my hubby. That's what makes me happiest. I'm not even vaguely interested in famous people at all.

Silver and crockery or paper plates ? ;)
-
Mmmmm - love this thread, let's see,
Hugh Jackman and Michael Fassbender - watch their dance on YouTube, they are so cool.
Rod Stewart and Elton John - they would be great together, they call each other Phyliss and Sharon and I have loved Rod since I was fourteen.
Miriam Margolyes - because she is such a riot whenever she is on Graham Norton.
Jose Mourinho - quite simply because he is the 'special one' and Rod loves football.
Maureen Lipman - she is extremely wise, witty and entertaining - and starred with Hugh Jackman in Oklahoma at The National, would also get on well with Miriam.
Just room for me to make 8 of us.
Oooooh and they would be entertaining me not the other way round ;D
-
Oh you are organised - <wave> …… I love Maureen Lipman her sense of humour and dry wit is a great pick-up. We'll need a Mansion at this rate ;)
-
Hi CLKD, I love Maureen Lipman too, her husband Jack Rosenthal died from multiple myeloma as did mine so I feel an affinity with her, they were both treated by the same team at the Royal Marsden - sorry gone off topic a bit, great thread by the way :)
-
:thankyou: …….. at least you all join in, when I make similar suggestions to DH he grins …….. and doesn't add anything to the party ::)
I loved Maureen when she took 'Joyce Grenfell' around the UK several years ago. I am a Joyce fan too - 'George. Don't do that' ;D …….
I liked the stuff that Jack wrote too …….. some illnesses are so un-necessary >:( ……..
-
My husband adored Maureen Lipman too, we went to see her in Re Joyce years ago. She wrote a book of poems in aid of research for multiple myeloma and we went to see her do some readings from it not long after Jack died and about two months before my husband died, we had a chat with her and she was so lovely to us xx
-
She had empathy. I think comedians often have.
-
We'll need a Mansion at this rate ;)
Oh i see - was being thick - It's not in our own homes then ?
Can you do something CKLD - people are pinching some from my table ;D
Hattie X
-
;D
Thought I would add a couple of ladies too, so as not to be mean hogging the men.
Joanna Lumley (for her charm and wit)
Lucy Worsley (young Historian who seems full of quirky fun)
Definitely crystal and silver.
-
We'll need a butler then and a tweenie to polish the silver ……….
No crackers or paper hats though! Don't want Leonardo having any of his ideas ;) [he designed a helicopter apparently!]
-
Love this topic!
The combo of Rod Stewart & Elton John is brilliant! Just add Ronan Keating, David Essex (swoon) and Pierce Brosnan and I will be one happy bunny!!
Oh , need to add Graham Norton, but he is on another table? and Miranda Hart maybe
Silver & purple ::) (http://::)) theme. sparkle and feathers and all things dreamy! Sorry, went off and had a bit of a moment there! ;D (http://;D)
-
I had thought of adding Graham Norton to my table as he clearly adores Miriam Margolyes but then we should also add Maria McErlane as they are such fun together on his Radio 2 show on a Saturday morning.
Looks like I might have to lose Elton from the Rod/Elton combo though as Hattie bagged him first :'(
xx

;D
Maybe if we are having several courses he can move around from table to table :-*
We're going to need goody take home bags CLKD - Elton is known for his generosity at his parties.
Hattie X
-
Good idea Hattie, perhaps we could keep Rod and Elton as a pair and they could visit all the tables together.
Elton is renowned for his generosity. Have you ever heard Rod tell the story about the time he bought Elton a wine fridge from Harrods one year for Christmas and was so chuffed with it and then Elton gave him a Rembrandt!
xxx
-
Ok - you will have to chose someone from my table to replace Rod in the meantime ;D
Please don't say Francesco - he's wandering off already ;D
Wow not heard that story about Elton - have read that he has given Lalique glassware as a party gift.
Hattie X
-
;D ;D
-
Ah - but there's Lalique: and Lalique ;)
Wish we had a table planner on here so that we could sit our guests ……..
-
Annie Lennox please Hattie ;D
Just been reminding myself how hilarious Miriam Margoyles is by watching YouTube clips of her on the Graham Norton Show...
The one she did when Jimmy Carr was also a guest and she talks about an encounter with an American soldier when she was a student at Cambridge is priceless. I was trying to post a link but it wouldn't work....
xx

-

He was always 'good' looking and has aged extremely well!
-
I still want James Norton for Christmas. Am I the only one ::) :)
-
JUst googled him BJ and he very attractive :)

everyday china. it's all we own :)
We can't seat more than 6 so in addition to the 2 of us I would have Paul O'Grady, Lorna Laidlaw, Julie Walters and my brother in law :)
