Title: Sense of humour
Post by: Lynjane on November 18, 2014, 11:30:33 AM
I've often wondered if the male and female sense of humour is so extremely different, that at some point it will divide and conquer!?! Well at this point in our lives, we cannot even watch TV in the same room as not only has the gap in our our s of h  widened, but we seem to dislike just about every aspect of TV entertainment that the other enjoys. Why does this happen?

We watch some things together, some things apart. We both love The Big Bang Theory, but he loves progs like You've Been Framed. I've long since tired of that prog. He now watches similar stuff online. I don't find that sort of prog terribly funny, as in many cases folk are being hurt.

We still share same silly sense of humour- in fact its one of the things I love about my husband

However, there are things I would watch on TV but he absolutely will not watch. He will not watch anything to do with illnesses or hospitals as he prefers to bury his head in the sand where illnesses are concerned and is very squeamish.

We don't disagree about it though as I always have my tablet to watch something else on - I can watch 2 things at once me - doesn't bother me a bit. Mind you, I don't take half of it in anyway  ;D

We still laugh at the same things....mostly.

Our TV watching tastes are very very different. He likes science stuff, and anything with wheels on.
I like the occasional soap and detective dramas.

We both just kind of watch what the other likes. I just go on the internet and on here and every thing else I just tune out  ;D

Hmmm, maybe it's me then...or maybe we never did have the same sense of humour and after 24 years it's out in the open! I like dry, satirical and witty humour, OH likes (IMO) childish, jockey, lavatorial humour, and yet I laugh out loud at Mrs Brown's Boys, but it leaves him cold...doesn't make sense, so I think I'll give up!!! 😟

We record programmes we both enjoy to watch together, but watch others separately. You wont  get me watching football for example! It's the same with interests, some we do together and others we follow separately. Hubby has a naughty sense of humour and keeps me laughing even when I don't want to.  :) I think we have grown closer, now that the stresses we went through when we were younger, work, children, health, despite my non existent libido.
