A few of you who read the gallbladder thread may remember I asked question about few symptoms I was having thinking they sounde familiar. I was at GP today and thought I would mention it. After a few questions, examination he wants to send me for breath test to see if it is H pylori, without sounding sad I hope it is then it might explain a few things and different things popping up. Anyone else had this? Would be interesting to hear your symptoms and if you felt a lot better aftet treatment?

You may well find threads if you do a 'search'. How long before you go for the test?

I checked for threads but didn't show anything up CLKD.
5 dec is appointment with nurse then 2-3 weeks for results, not in pain but annoying,

"A breath test can confirm that you have a current H. pylori infection. A sample of your breath is analysed after you take a special drink.
"Note: prior to this test you should not have taken any antibiotics for at least four weeks. Also, you should not have taken a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) or H2-receptor antagonist medicine for at least two weeks. (These are acid-suppressing medicines.)
"Also, you should not eat anything for six hours before the test. The reason for these rules is because they can affect the test result. ………
did you get this info.?

And if it's positive then you are given...three...antibiotics to get rid of it.
When I was tested they hadn't developed the breath test and I had to have a biopsy done. Mine was clear, and I was diagnosed with dyspepsia.

CLKD, ye thanks giving that info, exactly as you described :)
Sparkle it was reading a few of your posts and other that prompted me to mention it, jaggy niggly pain centre to left at bottom breastbone, horrible white tounge recurring after thrush treatment for it, no heartburn as such, small change in bowel habits,
HB ye he did mention camera and I told you'll have to drag me! I brush my teeth 3/4 times a day and always gag at it always have done I change toothbrush twice week, ooh it's just the thought I would need knocked out!

I once had camera up back side and felt invaded :D very confused waking up in different room thinking what have they done to me, I would ask for as much sedative as possible! Without sounding too foul mouthed (sorry ladies) my hubby said he could help me over my fear of things at back of throat :o you'd be lucky mate! :-*

Hope it wasn't same one sparkle! Yes they do have a way with words, after I had camera up he was sitting waiting on me coming round I thought aw! He asked how I was I told him I felt invaded he replied "so you should it's just been us 2 behind this curtain for past half hour"

CLKD wouldn't like to think my mum in law would think like but who knows! ;D
Like me with endoscopy would run a mile!

Yes I've had H Pylori otherwise known as Helicobacter. Mine was diagnosed with a blood test, 2 diff antibiotics and a PPI for 2 weeks. The only symptom I had was stomach pain. I had same symptoms year or so later and was then given the breath test which was negative. I have had these pains on and off ever since, and was diagnosed with non ulcer dyspepsia. I now wonder if it was my gallbladder all along since when it was removed the wall was very thickened.

This started back in summer feeling like something irritating airways, feeling bit bloated, white toungue. Treated for oral thrush few times, keeps coming back. Then slight niglu pain started so took oemprozole for few weeks and helped, went to docs and explained so he suggested that test but can't take oemprozole for few weeks so been a week now and mouth horrible, bloated and clearing throat a lot, so if that is negative we will try something else o suppose. Feel as if food not digesting quick enough,

Well that's breath test done this morning so we shall have to wait week or so for results but in the meantime back to oemprozole and hope it shifts the horrible taste in mouth

Ye I felt they were, that was 3 weeks without them and started feeling I was loosing my appetite a bit, bloated, throat clearing, might have been psychological lol but back on them so see if things improve again. Hopefully

Well back to drawing board, results are negative which is good but told to take oemprozole twice a day for few weeks see if it improves, feel stupid as keep telling them I THINK it may be stomach slight pain upper left side just under left breast sometimes feels like ball of air or something ready to pop behind left breast. Aw well
