Which do you like best?
-
Haven't seen any yet - too early ;D
-
I haven't seen them yet either - good question though :) (http://:))
-
I looked on YouTube. They were speaking about them on the news this morning. Curiosity got the better of me. ;D
-
Haven't seen either.
Usually record stuff and FF the ads.
-
Love the John Lewis ad. So cute.
-
Just seen the JL advert, how cute does it get.
Just lovely.....take a lot to beat that.

Yuk ::) ………..
-
I'm really not sure about JL ad, preferred last year's one.
-
I must be getting soft in my old age then ;D

I think I prefer the M&S one this year.
-
CLKD as I said to you on other post its cute :D
Just looking for that special someone aww, was trying to find cute penguin picture to send you, win you over but couldn't find any. But aw how cute ;D
Penguin, love, cute .....
No? :D
X
Haven't seen M & S one yet

I like the JL one. But then saw they are charging £95 for the penguin soft toy. So if you buy both Monty ( the penguin) and Mabel ( his love interest ) - hip that's £ 190.
Oh actually you can't buy them - sold out. ;)
-
That's a rip off! Now it's cute but wouldn't pay that for soft toy
X
-
The JL one isn't as bad as last year but I still find it far too gooey for my taste. Haven't seen the M&S one yet.

Oh heck what will these shops do to grab our money? Would not pay that for a soft toy. I fear many kids will add to their list. Many cannot afford that much, in fact many cannot afford anything.
M&S one is on YouTube. Christmas Fairies.
-
The smaller penguin is £12. Everyone at work loves the ad. We must all be soft in this part of the country. 💕🐧💕🐧💕😀
-
It's not being soft to like it littleminnie and it's not hard and unfeeling to dislike it. Everyone is different in how they see these things.

-
Oh I know Taz, I was only joking. It depends on what you like. I know someone who cried when she saw the advert. ::)
-
Mind you it's great that people are becoming aware of the plight of this type of penguin (adelie) and hopefully lots of them will adopt one! Maybe I'll get to like it after all!! http://www.wwf.org.uk/adoption/john-lewis-penguin/?utm_source=blackhub&utm_medium=partnership&utm_campaign=black&pc=CBS002001

I prefer the M & S fairy one, but only because I just love fairies and all things magical!
I like penguins as well, but not as much! :) (http://:))
-
I love the meerkats ::) - who haven't cottoned onto C.mas yet, they are still on Safari ;D
-
I LOVE the JL one (love penguins anyway, so it was a no-brainer!). Not so keen on the M&S fairies - it doesn't work for me.
Now, if the meerkats get home to Meerkovo in time for Christmas so Oleg can have a visit from Santa Claws ....!!
-
I love the M&S one because like purplenanny I like fairies and all things magical.
I like the blonde fairy, been thinking of growing my hair into a bob again. I have the blonde fringe just have to persevere with the rest :)
Anyway M&S always get me in the mood for Christmas, you could even say M&S is Christmas :D
-
Daughter has just shown me the JL one on her laptop.
Really cute and you can buy mugs, pyjamas,t shirts ,pyjamas, etc with Monty the penquin on.
If you're into that of course.
Have yet to see the M&S one.
-
oh I am so glad there are other meerkat fans here :) I was only saying to husband it is time they had a new adventure, and I really don't think it is safe for baby Oleg to play with those giraffes unsupervised ::).
What is your favourite? Mine is 'Sergei - vhere baby Oleg?' cue bush baby in Sergei's baby carrier :)
-
I love the Meerkat adventures too, don't think there is anyone who doesn't.
Just don't think of them for getting the Christmas feeling.
Also I do think they have started the adverts far too soon, by the time its Christmas week they will seem rather tired.
-
1st week of December would be OK to begin adverts, London light switched on last week :o - far too early!
-
I was in a supermarket today and couldn't believe it they had a stage with a girl dressed up singing, girls giving out mince pies and artificial snow blower as you went through door Xmas decores everywhere WHAT!
X
-
Crazy!
-
Waitrose self-service have reindeer heads on the tills ::) - hopefully they will be kept for years to come and not go into recycling >:(
-
As we get nearer to Christmas I love the Xmas ads, they are fun, sometimes magical (like little stories) and all add to feelings of the season.
The big companies spend a of of money making them and some become classics. Nothing wrong in that if they give pleasure, they certainly don't make me want to go out and spend more then I should.
They in no way deter from what Christmas means, each of carries in our hearts individually what that means.
Christmas means different things to each of us, I think of it as midwinter feast along with the other traditions, I know full well that the date was combined centuries ago with the birth of Christ,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas, millions of Christians will be celebrating the birth of Christ around the world, they won't be worrying about Christmas ads.
I love the Traditions, Christmas Ads are just another addition of the 21st century. I just think this year they should have waited until at least the 1st of December at least to start to show them, it dilutes the magic of Christmas other wise.
My OH loves mince pies but he knows I won't allow him to buy or eat any until a few weeks before Christmas :)
-
Mine is allowed my mince pies from Christmas week SL. ;D Used to make cake too, but as we're the only ones who eat it a lot was wasted as we got fed up eating it.
I agree ads could have waited a while as could the Christmas movies. I'm a sucker for a soppy Christmas film, but from beginning of November? Won't stop me watching them mind you, but young children must drive their parents crazy with the long build up to Christmas. Don't remember this sort of thing when mine were young. December is soon enough.
-
OK - Call it retarded development but only just seen the JL advert.
It's sweet but a little bit too much so.
Now, Meerkats on the other hand are a totally different thing.
-
Not so keen on the JL one or Sainsbury's Christmas adverts to me, they are playing on people emotions, at least the M&S one make no bones that it is advertising their food and clothes etc..
I like the ALDI Christmas advert with Jules Holland in it at the end too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_noAJIC408
-
Sainsbury's one is a play on Pipes of Peace, totally OTT. Though I do understand the sentiment.
JL one is just too sickly for my liking. Of course sales of Monty are going through the roof. Guess someone has to pay for the ad! Us!
-
By coincidence just read this on Sky News
http://news.sky.com/story/1378087/how-christmas-adverts-play-with-our-emotions
-
I like the ALDI Christmas advert with Jules Holland in it at the end too.
I like that one too
-
They were speaking about it earlier. Very true. M&S one isn't so emotional, I feel.
Aldi one I like too.
