Title: Perfume
Post by: bramble on November 05, 2014, 06:53:31 PM
I would like to buy some new perfume. I really like Miss Dior or Kylie's Darling so am looking for something floral for daytime wear.
What do you like which fits the bill?

I like Ghost for evening and Anais Anais for daytime.

Daughters boyfriend bought her a beautiful gift set from Mark Jacobs for her birthday. I think it's Daisy. The bottles are beautiful and have daisy tops. It's lovely.

Gosh I haven't worn make-up, perfume, tights, stilettos for years  ::) although as a very young girl wandered by me recently and left a scent in the air I did yearn to know what would suit me at my age  ::)

I loved 'charlie' but it gave me a headache!  4711 anyone  :D

I've become addicted to Fragonard perfumes from the south of France.  I bought their box of 10 miniatures when we were over there nearly three years ago and got my daughter to get me another pack online for Christmas, when that lot ran out...........

Can't imagine not wearing a bit of makeup and perfume especially as I get older. It makes me feel better and certainly look better.

I don't wear a lot but can't do without my mascara and a bit of blusher, oh and a good foundation, my concealer.....could go on  ;D and of course lipstick or at least a lip balm.  ::)

Sorry Bramble back to perfume.....I have Chanel No5 body dry oil spray....No need for perfume...It's lovely.

L'AIR DU TEMPS, by Nina Ricci.  Soft, sweet and subtle.  Have been wearing it for years.  Husband bought me Cocca by Channel one year but it was horrible by comparison.

I bought  Daisy Dream this year at the airport but it's a bit too floral for me (quite light for daytime though and in a lovely bottle).  Ellie Saab is really nice and rates as one of my favourites along with Coco Madamoiselle.  When I wear either of these people often admire and ask what I'm wearing.

I've gone for Elie Saab. Bought the one with the tester so if I don't like it I can send it back. Must take a trip into Boots and try some more out. I just feel like a change...........

I remember stepping into Harrods as an 18 year old - into the perfume dept.!  AWFUL but fascinating.  Some perfumes of course vary on our skin dependant on hormone levels, what we have eaten, time of day, whether we smoke ……..

Most perfume base is musk ox oil  :o

If you can catch a musk ox it is the business to be in   ;)  - always remember my evening class book keeping teacher saying about the very high mark up on perfume - at the time - which was a few years ago now - she said 100%.

Interesting subject though.  Think of Provence - lavender.  Think of Norfolk - lavender.

They don't spray it on you any more, it's on little stick thingys.

Many moons ago I was between jobs and landed one in The House of Frazer....same man owned Harrods at the time.

I was one of the annoying ones that chased people with a bottle of perfume.

It was just before I got married, the girls were great and taught me how to do wedding make up and gave me samples.

Got married on the Friday, honeymoon for a week and started a good job on the Monday.

Ok sorry off topic yet again.
 ;D ::)

So long as it was only perfume Honeybun  ;D - is that how you 'caught' your DH  ;)

I have taken to spraying the bathroom with those perfumes I don't get on with ….. and I have one, name escapes me, I put that onto the bottom of my jeans - so that I don't get a headache.

No I got him in a different way....I cooked his dinner for him for nearly a year.

The way to this man's heart was not with perfume but with food.   ;D

Always food!  ;D

First Christmas after I met hubby, he bought me perfume. I wore it because he bought me it, but was never a favourite. Took a while for me to realise I was allergic to it, ended up with blisters. Was good excuse to buy something else.  ;)  Elizabeth Arden's Blue Grass.

I bought Elie Saab. Totally the wrong thing to do, buying perfume off the net without trying it first! But it is really nice - quite unusual as well. Thank you Holidaylover for the recommendation. Here is the description:
The top note opens on a sun-kissed, radiant orange blossom, as an ode to light.

The middle note develops into a jasmine absolute, a legendary flower in perfumery, imparting voluptuousness and elegance to the fragrance. It combines with a pure, modern patchouli heart.

The base note unfolds into a cedar woody accord adding character and a lingering trail, while the honey rose envelops the composition in a beautifully addictive note...

Olfactory family: A floral, solar, woody Eau de Parfum.

Top notes: Orange Blossom.
Middle notes: Jasmine absolute, Patchouli

Who could not be seduced by that description?
