Hi, my joints have just become very painful so I bought some starflower oil after reading the positive reviews it had from users. Mine (higher nature) says 1000mg on bottle and that it provides 220mg GLA. It also says not to exceed recommended daily dose. When I was reading reviews, most stated that they took 2-3 tablets a day, or suggesting that the one to buy is 1000mg. Am I being completely stupid and missing something here? How many should I be taking? I desperately want this to work. I am not on any other medication. Please help!! Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Scottish or Proclaimers fan? ;)
One per day is what I take of the 1000mg ones. The ones which state 2-3 will have a lower mg quantity per capsule.

Ha, ha, how astute! Was singing it when I was asked for an ID!
Thanks for clearing that up. Did it work for you? My joints have got really painful so wanted to make sure I wasn't taking less than I should.
And both, latter sort-of, by the way. What about you, Blair or D ream?

;D More D Ream than Blair, seemed fitting for this stage in our lives. There are a few Scots on here, me included. :)
I'm taking starflower to help me cope with flushes as I wean myself off HRT. Still got aches & pains, though maybe would have been worse without it.

No more than 1000 a day is good

I just get confused (not an infrequent thing). It's giving me 1000mg cold-pressed starflower oil, of which 220mg is GLA. What exactly do I need 1000mg of?
Or am I reading too much into this?
Need my joints strong - have exercise classes!! :gym:

A typical holland and barrett capule contains 1000mg dose which is correct, dont need any more than that

Thanks for your help, just have to wait for the results now!

Mine are from Superdrug and say 1000mg on. I'm guessing it's all starflower oil as it doesn't mention anything else....I'm a bit confused too ::)
I'm trying it for the flushes but my aches and pains have come back since I stopped the HRT. May be I'm expecting too much as it's only been a week :)
-
My GP told me to take Starflower with around 220-250mg GLA. That is all that is required.

The gla is contained withon the starflower xx

Well, that's been 3 weeks of Starflower oil and there's no difference :'( so I'm going to have to resort to bothering doctor. Damn, I had really high hopes after reading peoples' reviews. Of course, it may have nothing to do with menopause......

I think starflower is more for hormonal balance than joints- mabe omega 3 would be better for you??
