Title: Short of oestrogen or progesterone or both?
Post by: SueRoe on October 22, 2014, 04:15:13 PM
Another question I'm afraid. I came off my HRT 12 days ago because I felt grotty (anxious, no sleep, irritable, etc) and to get the HRT out of my system and see how I felt. Not much has changed except for the return of very dry flaky skin - my clothes are covered with flakes. Does anyone know which is the culprit, low oestrogen or low progesterone? If I knew which it is I would know what I'm actually deficient in and whether the same hormone is the cause of the anxiety etc. Presumably each hormone, when deficient, is the cause of its own set of deficiency symptoms - grrrr!
Thanks for help again - I wish I was able to help other women on this forum as much as they've helped me.

Just wanted to say sorry to hear about the dry skin - the healthy skin we have in our younger fertile years is due to oestrogen.

Here is some information and some good tips as well:

One other thought - have you had your thyroid checked because dry skin is one symptom of underactive thyroid, although there are other common symptoms like feeling cold, and tired?
