Hi does anyone know how long it takes to come out the other side of menopause. There must be a time when you feel naturally better!

Hi, not sure Geri to be honest, I am just at the start of peri menopause but think it differs for each person...maybe someone with more experience will be along soon :)

I think the symptoms come and go a different stages. I've found that being 2 years post meno my symptoms are less frequent and less extreme. The most important thing is to look after yourself and not feel you have to make excuses when you are feeling bad. Deal with each problem when they arise and find the solution that suits you (we're all different). Be positive and make the best of, and enjoy the days that you feel the best on. Try and put yourself first on the bad days (we women are not very good at this). It's your life so get in the driving seat.

I agree with rosebud and that is my experience. I had about 5 years of nasty flushes and sweats, vaginal atrophy, headaches, anxiety, tired and my get up and go got up and went and I was horrible to everyone.
This year I have gradually noticed small changes, flushes and sweats less often and milder, sleeping better, tummy better, VA still there and always will be as I now know it won't grow back but Vagifem pessaries still keep me comfortable down there. My husband is interacting with me again as I am more rational, he doesn't run for cover every time I speak now.
I still have episodes of anxiety but I would say that, for me, I am turning a gradual corner so there is definitely hope of better days. I am hoping my 60s are the start of a better time of life. :)

I think that those of us who suffer anxiety may well have had a predisposition to it any way. I was always a bit "nervey" even as a child. Difference is that when I was younger I could cope and just get on with things.
I also wonder if there is a bit of a genetic link too as my mother suffered very badly from anxiety for many years......She did get better though which gives me hope.
I just wish I had a crystal ball because if I could see an end to it then.... :-\

I was an anxious child too honeybun, due to my strange childhood. Mum was also quite an anxious woman as was her sister. My father was very tightly strung too so it could have a genetic link.

Hi
Yes definitely different with everybody, depending on your symptoms and your personality type, I cant wait for it to end myself but there isn't a thing I can do, you just have to find the best way of helping you deal with it so that you can try and live you life as normal as possible x
