Title: Who has started shopping for 25/12
Post by: Joyce on October 03, 2014, 12:46:26 PM
Daren't say the word.  ;D

I've started buying some little things for grandchildren as they're the easiest. Purchased a butterfly garden for eldest GD & a little dinky handbag for youngest GD. Just hope I can persuade adults to accept vouchers with a little pressie for the day. Just so blooming stressful. Last year was a nightmare, everyone wanted this  & that. Thankfully daughter's partner said "Yes" to voucher last year.

Oh heck.....I confess to buying one for my son.

I think it's hilarious and I hope he does too. I have bought him a small, well tiny bit of land in Glencoe which entities him to use the title Lord. The pack that comes with it is brilliant and the money is used for conservation.

I have.... B&Q were putting up the decs yesterday, I bought mincepies in Waitrose last week for the family when they come for carnival tomorrow night... and I have 2 pressies put away... I always start early, then when I've put 'em away so safe I can't find 'em I have to get bits and pieces again. Mid way through the year I find what I'd lost, but it usually comes in for birthdays if it wasn't too blatantly Christmas...

One square metre  ;D. Just big enough for his bum.

We always thought he had ideas above his station and now he can be a real Lord rather than a pretend one.

Just seen your post purplenanny.....It's called Highland Titles. It's just a bit of fun but very professionally done.

I don't normally buy much early, but I saw these gorgeous cards while on holiday, so now I have all the cards necessary. I shall start looking for prezzies, next week as I have 4 days let loose in London while husband attends a conference. Retail therapy, yeh! HB's idea sounds wonderful!

Honeyb - one of my men friends (the narcissist/borderline personality one)  had one bought for him. He used the title much to everyone's amusement and incorporated it into his website and letterheading! It was quite a while before he was rumbled. He really did believe he was a Lord!! He was obviously one of these mentioned by the owners of the scheme

â€œWe don't suggest everyone uses the title if they don't want to. It's just one of those traditional things – we don't mean any disrespect towards any lairds, lords or ladies. Only a small number of our buyers take it to the degree where they believe they're a genuine royal lord.”

Would like to see your son's face when he opens it  ;D

Me too Taz.....Don't think he will change his business cards any time soon but we will frame the title for him to hang up.    ;D

He will see the funny side.

Not started shopping yet (unless you count chocolate advent calendars on offer!!), but I HAVE started thinking about it, and actually looking forward to it for the first time in 3 years (since the last Christmas when my Dad was well).  This year, my Mum is settled in a lovely care home and is happy - this is going to sound selfish, but it means we can have 'our' sort of Christmas this year.   :)

I work in a charity shop and the Christmas cards came in last week so I bought some of those and today I bought 2 boxes of chocolate fingers in Waitrose as they were reduced so have put those away for the grandchildrens Christmas visit so I have made a start. Usually try to add a couple of extra goodies to the weekly shop from now on to spread the cost a bit.

I'm going to do some Xmas shopping when I'm on my holidays. Aberfoyle has a great woollen mill type shop with some lovely stuff. I hope to be able to get my mother a prezzie. Maybe a lovely knee blanket  ( Well she is 92 ) and maybe a golf jumper for my son.

I need to check whether I have enough cards from last year. I don't send so many nowadays.

A friend and I are going to fill shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.  Does anyone know where we can get some empty shoeboxes. Can you ask shoe shops for their unused boxes?

You could certainly try as I think they just recycle anyway.

This will seem like bar humbug.......but we gave up giving each other Christmas presents three years ago .......and all the children 27,25&23 said it was there best christmas ever no stress at all, they all come home for Christmas and this year the children want to do all the cooking.

Santa still leaves them all a stocking under the Christmas tree though :)

The children doing the cooking is a 'gift' indeed - beans on toast with an egg then  ;)

;D I will have to make sure I don't interfer, the Middle one who will be in charge I am sure is an excellent cook, but possibly a little bossy. The youngest will be heavily pregnant by then , baby due January  :) first one, and the eldest will only have a week left before she will be going back home to NZ  :'( but will be great while they are altogether and there other halves.
