Me yet again I'm finding my chest tight a lot recently and don't know if this is due to anxiety as I know this can be a symptom or the progesterone in patches?? I'm also an asthma sufferer - I don't really want to go back again to the gp as I'm thunking could it be angina as I'm fed up of ringing him or going there - anybody else having this symptom???

I would think it's your anxiety to be honest but if your concerned get it checked out.
If your busy with your mind occupied do you feel it then or does it come on with exertion. Or is it when everything is quiet and your having a bit of a panic ?

Hi honeybun it comes on all sorts of times today I've woke up with it but it can come on if work and I'm always busy there it can happen when I'm just watching tv x

While it won't do any harm checking this out, it does sound like generalised stress. What else is going on in your life?
Also, at this stage of life, as we get older, we realise we won't go on forever and start looking at our own mortality. So we can magnify things that we wouldn't have noticed when were younger and healthier.

Hello karenja.
I agree with the other ladies that it is probably stress but as an asthma sufferer it may be worth seeing your GP as you may just need a change in medication.
Hope you feel better soon and keep us posted.
Take care.

thanks everybody again, I will go and see the gp (mustn't think of it as nagging that's what they are there for I suppose), there are some stress situations going, ie job security etc, and I did get a bit stressed before but never had panic attacks and palpatations that im having now im peri, hope its all over soon I need normality as do we all!, Im trying to trap a stray cat as the rspca will get him looked at by a vet, he has a bad leg, ive been feeding him for months, but he got in the trap and managed to get out again no problem, when he was in there my heart was racing, I felt really anxious, so the slightest thing starts me off, ive gone very jumpy and anxious x

Hi Karenja, I get this feeling also and I think it is due to faulty breathing, I mean from the chest instead of the diaphram when feeling ansious or panicky :)

Ho TV69
Yes it maybe that's its an awful feeling, most people say anxiety starts in the stomach with them, with me its always the tight chest feeling, I hate it x

I know, I hate it too....but feel that I shallow breathe from the chest when anxious and muscles get sore and tight...I find it helps to consciously breathe from the abdomen slowly...hope this helps...I know how hard it is with the anxiety :)
