I have been on vagifem for just over 2 years now and find it superb. However more and more lately I have had to use an extra dose before the normal day as the burning, frequency and itching have reared there ugly head. I'm sure I have read on the forum about reloading. Worried though that will be too high a dose in one go.
Advice and experiences would be greatly appreciated.

It's thought that a yearly reload is helpful.
Use one a night for two weeks before going back to twice a week. Some doctors know about it bust most don't.
I think it's become more common since the dose has dropped.

I agree. Finding a level with medication can be Trial and Error, fortunately my GP is sympathetic to my 'self medicating'. let us know how you get on!

Also it depends on where in menopause you are - because oestrogen levels continue to fall for around two years following the last period so an increase in symptoms at this time is more likely.

I have been on Vagifem for 4 years now. Since the change to the 10 mcg I need to do a reload about every 9 - 10 months which sorts it out then back to my 3 times a week.
Hurdity it seems so much harder after a hysyerectomy as I didn't know where I was in menopause until the hot flushes started as there were no other signs without the bleeding. My levels seemed to keep dropping for about 3 years and then the flushes got milder and less often. Nowadays I can go several days without one but then they seem to jump out at me when I don't expect it just to remind me that they have not finished with me yet.
However from reading around this site I realise that I have been one of the lucky ones and not suffered too much for too long. Some of the ladies, well I don't know how they keep going with what they have to put up with.

I was lucky in that my GP recognised the VA symptoms so was ready with the prescription. I find that if I don't use the medication 3/4 nights and a gap of 3 then the symptoms begin to grumble in the background. But I have been lucky in that the medication eased the feelings of razor blades up there within 2/3 weeks.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I'm going to start with 1 every day tomorrow for the 2 weeks and see how I get on.
