Title: Advice - Elleste Duet Conti
Post by: Jobo on August 15, 2014, 10:13:28 AM
I have just been prescribed Elleste Duet Conti after already trying 2 other HRT's Premque and Prempak C.  Having terrible trouble with periods on Prempak C so decided did not want the bleed, I haven't had one for 2 years prior to that anyway as I am post menopause and estimate I started the menopause aged 41.  I am loosing all faith in my doctors because I went to my doctors approx 2 years ago as I was feeling very very depressed and had no idea why.  Had no reason to be like that but after reading lots of information on here that was probably the start of the menopause, I would have thought a doctor would have known this or possibly checked it !

I would really like to hear from anyone who is taking Ellete Duet Conti, how do you find it?  I am worried because doctor has put me on higher dose 2mg.  I am 44 now and I have also read that even though I am post menopause I should have a bleed because this can keep the uterus healthy - is this true?

Thank you

Thank you Stellajane you seem to have good knowledge.

I was ok on the Premque low dose but because I have break through bleeding and hospital investigations it was advised I go on the Prempak C - this made me feel terrible I was so tired all the time falling asleep up to 3 times a day - totally unheard of for me I am so active, even my husband was shocked.  Bleeding was also terrible 3 weeks on and 1 week off that's why I choose no bleed and elleste Duet conti was prescribed, I think the Norgestrel in the Prempak did not agree with me because I stop taking it 2 weeks before I went to see doctor and felt great, it made me realised just how bad the I was feeling.  Do you happen to know what the difference is then Norgestrel and Norethisterone?  Thank you again.

Hi there, I'm on exactly the same tablets as you, and the same strength. I was still having the odd period when I was put on them just over 2yrs ago, I was also having really bad hot flushes, panic attacks, depression, you name it I had some of it. It took a few months for it to sort me out, but after about a year I was feeling so much better I'd forgotten how bad I was feeling before and asked to come off it. Soon after trying to cut down I was reminded of why I needed it in the first place and went back to taking them daily. I have since tried again recently but my body still needs the tablets and so now I think (being almost 59) they are doing me good and I'm sticking with them for as long as poss. I think it's good to know if and how they affect other people so you can judge your symptoms and how you're feeling, compared with other women. It might just help you decide whether you want to stick with it, or try something different again. Yes, everyone is different, but the more info you can get, the better, I say.  I'll get off my soapbox now...   :)

Thank you so much ladies, I have read loads and loads on HRT and the different ones, if I hadn't have joined this sight I would probably have stayed on the Prempak and stayed feeling terrible for a while as all the information I have obtained drew me to the conclusion that it was these making me feel bad and not the actual menopause.

I would still love to hear from anyone else that is on Elleste Duet Conti 2mg and how they find it.

Thanks again Stellajane and Witches Cat - really helpful.

You could put Elleste Duet Conti 2mg into the search box in the blue bar top left of the page Jobo. Might bring up others posts on the subject.
