Anyone else got one......Grumpy, absent minded, impatient and sleeps at the drop of a hat.
He is getting worse, seems to live in a little world of his own. No patience with anything....including himself.
Now I know he is getting older but heavens above.
Please tell me I'm not alone.....I wish he could have some of my patches. It might make him easier to live with :P

You know you are not alone HB.
I am having grumpy OH problems too ( though he does not sleep at the drop of a hat) still awake at one in the morning :o
Not in his good books this afternoon because I poured away about quarter an inch of beer left in the bottle, I didn't know he was saving it ::)
-
Oh heaven's the ultimate sin ;D
It's not just with me, he drives my daughter up the wall too. I can actually see her biting her tongue. She at least gets to go out ;D
I am needing a huge injection of patience just to get to the end of the day.

My husband can also be a very grumpy so and so. There are certain things that make him snappy and horrible - don't interrupt him when he is reading the paper or on the computer. He can't talk and read - in fact like most men cannot multi task. I notice if in am doing 6 things like making food, answering phone, looking for something blah blah and I snap at him - God forbid but when he is doing one or two things at the same time he becomes exceptionally grumpy. Plus if he's doing diy - always in a mood. Plus driving - oh don't get me started........
Yes he's a grumpy so and so, you are not alone HB xxx

Last week my OH told me how to cut up cucumber for a salad. I trained as a chef for heaven's sake.
My daughter was in the kitchen at the time and her face was a picture. I really think she expected that cucumber to end up somewhere other than the salad......She was nearly right. The amount of self control that one took ::)

Mine's exactly the same.
I am quite tempted to prod him, and yes this is the same OH that I was really worried about earlier on this year. He falls asleep in a second then the next day gets crabby when I don't do something instantly, when he hasn't said what it is he wants
What really got me today, listening to Mahler 6 on the TV and he criticises the 1st horn player (female) saying she is bending the notes, that's how it should sound - Grrrr. I have never heard anything so well played in my life.
I'll stop ranting now.......
-
Oh please don't. It makes me feel better that I'm not the only one ::)

I suspect mines getting worse................

I know mine is.
Guess it's not only woman that change as we age. Men do too without a doubt.

Prob a male menopause.
A male member of staff came into our all female office one day this week with a t shirt, jumper and fleece. Oooh he says i'm hot maybe a hot flush could it be male meno he was saying aloud. At this point i twirled around in my chair, glared at him before saying hot flushes really arent funny, if you had ever had one you would know all about it, before finishing with " and the reason men dont get them is they couldnt cope with them".
At that I just twirled back to what I was doing and left him to close his mouth that had gaped open.
As for my hubby hes early 40's, completely laid back in stark comparison to me hopefully got a while yet before he gets grumpy.
-
This is interesting in a grumpy old man kind of way http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2013/aug/05/were-grumpy-for-a-reason/
Amongst my friends they are also saying that their husbands/partners are becoming less tolerant and grumpy. It seems to me that women tend to want to start living as they get older and time's running out but a lot of men want to slow down.

Mine is becoming less tolerant these days. He used to be calm. Oh & he can fall asleep to order, complete with remote control pointed at the TV.
Mind you I think I'm less tolerant these days too,so maybe not just a male thing.
-
Problem is how do you tell a grumpy old man why he is grumpy without making him grumpier.
My OH would never admit to being a grumpy old sod ::)

No, they wouldn't would they. Mine is getting so like his dad, physically & in grumpiness stakes. But then I'm getting like my mum. Heaven help us all. ;D
-
Oh God, shoot me if I get like my mother ;D

So much for me thinking my hubby would be ok, maybe he will be a grumpy old man of the future.
Was it the case that in their 40's they had a mid life crisis before resigning themselves to the fact they are getting older and there is nothing they can do about it, hence their older grimpy status now.
My father is getting so cantankerous (apologies for spelling!!) didnt seem to click anything with him when several of us got him birthday cards with victor meldrew / old git comparisons.
-
Can only speak for mine but he was fine when he was younger.
Look what you've got to look forward to ;D

Like Honeyb says, mine was fine when he was younger, well till now really.
He's going to be 69 in September, he's been much worse this year.
I have just listened to a diatribe about some wire strippers, they are from China and c--p, it's like it's my fault. ::) I really think it's a shame they don't work, but I didn't do it.......
Linsey, when it happens, and it probably will, welcome to our world

Yep!, my DH is getting very grumpy. Mind you as DDsays he's always been a bit that way. Since he retired he seems to feel he's an expert on everything domestic- after 40 odd years it seems as I've been doing it all wrong!! As Honeybun says you need lots of patience and counting to ten. He comments on everything on TV, and he's always right and he irritates me by reading out things on his laptop when I'm trying to read or knit etc.Don't get me started about wanting to do things the same time every day-meals, bedtime , getting up ( he was in the military, so used to a routine). However, whilst he might be a grump he's my grump and I love him to bits- if I'm honest I'm probably hard to live with at times- so we don't spoil another pair!! He's just suggested we go out to lunch so I'll keep him a bit longer.☺

They all sound a nightmare. ;D probably not be laughing when its my turn.
-
Oh the TV and the news papers all get shouted at. I'm lucky if I get to watch the news at all when he gets started.
As for tools not working or things being poorely made ;D, oh yes I get that.
Oh they are fun aren't they, unlike us who are mostly perfect ;)

I'm the 1 that shouts at the TV in this house ;D ……… however, when men have been 'useful' in the workplace and find they have time on their hands, they can go into a kind of depression or 'take over' chores around the house. I handed over the hooverythingy to DH as soon as he retired, well not that week but quite soon after. He doesn't know any of the laundry techniques (thought is capable), other chores we share …………. as neither is tidy it's OK, I don't need to nag him to hoover etc.. He cooks. We share the garden.
I am not the sort of person to hold my tongue though, if I get 'told' I let rip back. I would be worried if mine started falling asleep routinely because there may be underlying causes. We both drop off in front of the TV, DH usually 'cos he's had 2 bottles of cider or half a bottle of wine ::)
? what's a wire stripper …….
-
Wire stripper - a tool similar to a pair of pliers except the jaws don't quite meet. Used for stripping the insulation off a piece of wire leaving the bare copper wire.
-
My hubby has been able to sleep any where for the past 30 years so I'm not worried about that at all ::)
A friend of mine has a hubby who is ten times worse with regards to sleeping. He does it everywhere including pubs, parties the cinema.....and so on it goes. She wont let him sit down at a party. It's very funny to watch.

Thanks Bramble, I hadn't noticed CLKDs question.
He ended up using an old pair of kitchen scissors, which strangely enough have wire strippers incorporated in the middle.

I too have a grumpy OH. Mine has gotten worse when he drives
for some reason. He shouts at other drivers to get out of the way usually with a
few swear words thrown in :o
He used to be so calm and easy going. He's the same in the supermarket if anyone's
in the way with their trolley, I'm calmer than him now ::)
-
Mine is grumpy if I get out of bed for breakfast rather than :bed: :(
-
Perhaps he could make it more interesting and you would be more likely to have a pre-breakfast :bed: !
Taz x ;)
-
It's only when I mention it's breakfast time that …………. and I know it will be another hour before I can get to my cuppa and toast ::) - by which time?
-
So... don't mention breakfast.. just get out of bed and head for the door!!
Taz x ;D

A whole Hour - Wow CLKD ;D
-
Yes - I bet you could finish off quicker than that if you wanted ;D
-
Yep, pop on the kettle first and by the time it's boiled your duty will be done ;D
Unless it's tantric sex of course.

;D ;D Tantric sex that made me laugh HB.
Though I must confess back in the day ::) I had a few books on it :) it is suppose to be a way of life, so popping the kettle on before hand is good advice :D
-
Just thought by the time the kettle boiled it could be done and dusted ;D
Everyone happy and a cuppa afterwards ;)

Is it worth considering a Teasmade?
-
Oh YUK! apparently Teasmade are becoming popular again, we gave his parents one for C.mas in 1977. They used it every day until she died 4 years ago.
